@MajorS9: This is an online flash game, found at tenhou(dot)net There's an english guide at arcturus(dot)su/tenhou if you can't understand Japanese. There are various other online and offline variants for the PC, but Tenhou is personally my favourite for online multiplayer.

@ordinaryk But if you look at it from any of the other player's POV, you don't know what that guy has. Like West for instance can say "Oh he's got Daisangen because he didn't discard any dragons. East can say OMG is that Churen Poto? and South can even say "Oh that's CLEARLY Toi toi".

By calling riichi, you're also imposing an offensive stance on the other players, which may or may not prompt them to play defensively (and potentially break apart their hands).
@ordinaryk13 жыл бұрын
@Daikamaitachi Because calling riichi gives no bonus on a hand that's already yakuman tenpai, and your opponents will instantly see from your discards that you're going for Kokushi, and bail out.
@ordinaryk13 жыл бұрын
@Daikamaitachi That may be so, but the point remains that when you're yakuman tenpai, all calling riichi does is call attention to the fact that you're tenpai, and your opponents will start playing heavy defense. Damaten is always the best strategy in this case.

I don't think riichi-ing on a Kokushi-Musou is a good idea, cause people will realize that your yakuman hand has alraedy been materialized, and they will defend against it, especially when it comes to a wait where there is only 1 card left. Unless someone is too casual to discard it, or another person on riichi discards it (Remember, once you riichi, you will keep on discarding until you get the card), doing that is not a good idea.

It makes it look less likely that he's actually going for 13 orphans. And when it's a 13-sided wait then all you need is for someone to chance discarding an end tile.

My 4 Yakuman have been obtained while playing online against AI players. I have only ever attained 13 Orphans if I had all of the Honors to start(1/4 attempts).
@MajorS914 жыл бұрын
how do you play up those games? >.
@Faelil12 жыл бұрын
Necroing this vid but... Kokushi would be to only one TO riichi on since there are a number of advantages. First especially when already discarded, honor tiles will be very common when someone riichis as usually they are safe. Also with a riichi other players might break up their hands giving more chance for you to finish your yakuman.
@Daikamaitachi13 жыл бұрын
@ordinaryk He's waiting on 1 of 13 tiles. Why not?

Riichi (kokushi musou), so not a single terminal discarded and he discards a terminal? His hand was already bad with two random winds and a single dragon after 14 discards, why would he do that?
@TetrisRosti12 жыл бұрын
I was just speculating. It wasn't me playing in these games so I have no idea.

I think you're missing a few yakuman hands: the Big Four Winds, All Greens, and Pure Terminals. Big Four Winds: triplets/quads of the 4 wind tiles, must be concealed All Greens: triplets/quads of any of the following tiles: 2 bamboo, 3 bamboo, 4 bamboo, 6 bamboo, 8 bamboo, green dragon. Must be concealed, don't need to have the green dragon to win the hand. Pure Terminals: triplets/quads of ones and nines of all three suits.
