I love these videos soooo much! Wish they would use this kind of stuff in schools more often, instead of boring material that makes it boring to learn a language. I love how you guys really envolve real (random) people, makes it so much fun to watch.

Good episode, especially after the last. Perhaps it would be good to also include some interviews from PEGIDA?

Guten Tag.

Great episode! I hope that the so-called 'Pegida' movement ends soon and that imigrants in Germany can carry on their lives without such associations with terrorism. Gruß aus Brasilien.

so basically you want to censor freedom of expression, freedom to criticize religion. I find it ironic since the victims of Charlie Hedbo were killed just for that reason. Maybe it's you who support terrorism. And I am an immigrant of Germany. Thank you very much.

Howard Paras I think many people, especially foreigners, misunderstand the pegida movement. I'm definitely against how they do it and what many of them say and do. But it's not like they don't have a point. They are fighting against radical muslims, not the average immigrant. Atleast that's how I understood it.

Pegida isn't completely wrong. Do you think it's fair a lot of imigrants just take money from government and don't even try to find any job? I believe in equality and justice, yes. But people who are able to work and avoid to take responsibility for themselves intentionally shouldn't be given money for free just because they're imigrants. Everyone should have equal rights AND also responsibilities. That's a true equality. A part of my familiy migrated to Germany, so I'm familiar with this topic.

I'm taking the time to write down the translations. At this point I'm beginning to catch the words(Though I still am relatively lacking in vocabulary,but not compared to many English speakers )..Interestingly , I just looked up this PEGIDA (that I haven't heard of before)and just discovered the leader resigning because of the Hitler photo . Sorry I chose to mention that. Thanks for videos of current German for people of my generation 20sto 30s.I realize now that it's important to know current street German.

I have a question. I was told that it is more common to use present perfect tense when speaking, or use it in everyday conversation. While simple past is usually only used in writing or story telling. But in these videos I see a lot of the simple past tense being spoken. Which is more true? Would you say Germans use simple past more than present perfect now?
@Ling74750
@Ling74750 10 жыл бұрын
Present perfect is used far more often to talk about the future. Especially in the southern parts of Germany

***** Yes I would use present perfect more often than simple past. Definetely ! I just noticed that I made a mistake in my previous comment. Obviously present perfect and simple present are used to describe the past not the future. I only accidentally tiped future.

***** My understanding is that certain high frequency verbs like "sein" and "sollen" get used in the simple past more often than other verbs, if that helps at all.
