Really nice guitar. I've built a mahogany strat type myself. To my ears a less harsh/brittle sound compared to say alder or esp basswood

I have a S500 Tribute and I really love It, I bought It 7 years ago and the only defect is the overweight of the body because that serie was made with very heavy ash and despite the beautiful look the weight is 5 Kg not so comfortable in a normal use , for all the rest nothing to say awesome Guitar.

Very nice Corey. I have G&L Tribute Legacy in that same color and those guitars are very close to the same except for the pickups I'm loving the sound of it but I do need to go have it set up because it wasn't the greatest setup out of the box.

I think G&L should design a better Logo, .... (yes that wouldnt change the sound, but maybe it would sell better ;-)) Nice video btw. how is the neck shape ?

Well done on the video. I have one of these in Sonic Blue I purchased last year. Although it appears to be setup properly and signed off by a QA person at G&L in USA apparently, the guitar does not stay in tune at all when using the wammy bar. New strings, stretched on install, using the bar for light vibrato, some strings just do not come back in tune. The electronics are not very durable either. After about 2 months of playing, the switch barely works. The bridge pickup is also very weak and thin compared to the middle and neck pickups. You have to have the bass control all the way up for it to sound decent. Doing so however makes the other pickups way too bassy. Always have to fiddle with the bass control when switching between pickups. Pulling on the treble knob to activate neck and bridge pickups together almost requires pliers to pull up. I’ve been playing guitar since I’m 12 and still playing at 64. Played semi-professionally from the age of 17 to 32 so I’m pretty familiar and versed on quality of guitars. Sure an affordable G&L, but what’s the point if you have to spend a fair amount of money to fix setup, change electronics, pickups, and possibly tuners?

For me its the G&L. The fulcrum vibrato with the big block and the ptb-system is making the point.

@@CoryMura Thanks. I was wondering about the quality of the trem, but it looks like it's top notch. And these gl pickups sound so good and are very versatile. Probably much better than the mex player series. What about the neck, is it like super comfy? I know I love the mex fender necks, but didn't get to try a g&l yet.

@@JakaMoriI had the same choice to make, and decided on the G&L. From what I have heard the g&L neck is a little wider than the strats.

@DimitrisDr3am 5 жыл бұрын
@@ggriffaw yep you are correct, the MFD pickups give it a fuller beefier tone than the typical strat tone. The Legacy has a similar "strat" pickup system..
@charlie-obrien
@charlie-obrien 4 жыл бұрын
The MFD pick ups and the Passive Treble Bass system of controls makes it very easy to get a "Strat" sound. Just dial the treble to about 7 and have the bass on 10 and voi'la you have a beautiful strat sound.
