Nah, don't blame this on climate change cos you can't say there was unprecedented rainfall this year and the dam could not handle the water volume and even if that was the case, at what point did they do a controlled release of water at dam. That dam simply failed cos it has been neglected for so long. Maintenance culture in this country is nonexistent and vital infrastructure like this are bound to surely fail after long periods of very little or no maintenance. Periodic disilting and regular checks on the dam would have likely prevented this.

They did an assessment of the dam 5 days before the collapse and lied that the dam was good and there's nothing to worry about, they even took 816 million naira to upgrade the dam but looted the money and did nothing and now look what happened!!
