Personally, I think she is a bit warped in the head from lusting after Illidaddy for over 10,000 years. In Legion, she gave of major obsessed ex girlfriend vibes. Like she was in love with him and felt Personally betrayed by what he chose to become. Plus, she is a max level tsundere.

She's basically night elf CIA/KGB agent, she shouldn't be good or evil, she must be effective agent. Knowing what elven mages did long ago - no wonder she was killing them without mercy. What is more strange, why she they were still alive after 10k years, may be because Illidan took all her attention.

I usually notice callbacks to other cinematics. But I JUST noticed that in the sentencing, Tyrande was circling behind Sylvanas talking about her fate in the exact same way Sylvanas was explaining her understanding of fate to Anduin in Torghast. Even saying "every soul" in the same tone.

When Maiev returned to her people after the events of Cataclysm, she was shocked and angered when she saw Tyrande and Malfurion were reintegrating the Highborne back into their society. The Highborne were exiled after the War of the Ancients. I'd imagine any Kaldorei who showed a natural affinity for the Arcane after that either fled or studied in secret. Maiev comes back not knowing everything that had gone on during her absence. She sees Nelf Mages in Darnassuss and thinks Tyrande forgot what happened 10,000 years ago. She clearly had no problem working with Mages of other races after her return (Khadgar, etc.) but the issue was primarily on Nelf Mages. Until now. That's progress =)

@@ismaeldeleija8165 the connection between elves and elune has always been there, since the times when they were dark trolls. they were tasked with guarding the well of eternity and Elune takes a chosen with whom they can somewhat communicate with Elune. It's unclear why Elune hasn't been doing more than that, though. She is clearly capable of giving them more power or to communicate more efficiently. Also it's funny you mention Illidan because literally most of his power is stolen or borrowed by demons lol

I just can’t take any of this lore seriously when the writers are still treating shadowlands like it happened. It destroyed so much of the pre-established lore, it was the death of interesting lore for me. I’d rather see blizz act like shadowlands never happened that admit it exists. Medan was just a Mary sue character, that expac was so much worse.

At the time there were more people asking fr high elves, the progenitor race of both Belves and Nelves let alone the Dark Dwarve for Horde and the uncorrupted Orcs for the alliance. That is forgetting the lycans. In the game they were a joke easter egg an not considered an actual part of the story line. That is one of the problems with a multidecade game new staff may not know the back story so to long time players the updates make no sense.

i love how everyone stamps Sylv as an unforgivable character. some list her converting anduin as a reason they hate her. first of all she gave him MULTIPLE CHANCES TO JOIN WILLINGLY. she didn't want to kill someone using the same blade she fell to. you can see the doubt in her eyes when the jailor suggests that. and even when anduin says "make your choice, sylvanas windrunner" she hesitates even further. the jailor had unwillingly brought back a painful memory of her past life. especially once that dude brought frostmourne into her view. "sylvanas is a badly written character in the game, she doesn't match her book version at all" when will y'all stop using the books as a point? those books are a DIFFERENT VERSION (a different universe you could say) of the character. also some point out that she was aware what she was doing and that they dont like the "split personality trope" that the devs are pulling out they're asses. get over it, i like the Sylvanas we have now. especially when she realizes (her ranger general self) that the crimes she committed are unforgivable. hence why she says "i do not expect any mercy from you Tyrande" she FULLY expected to get killed by Tyrande, yet Tyrande spared her. Tyrande KNOWS that this sylvanas isn't the one she hunting, she even stated as such "the Sylvanas i hunted, would never submit to the blade of her enemy". sylvanas's change of character doesnt go unnoticed by Tyrande, tyrande is just too pissed off (rightfully so, even sylvanas knows that) to forgive her. maybe one day they will have a talk and hopefully put their differences aside.

I still never understood the logic behind sending Sylvanas away like that. She is extremely powerful and furthermore it isn't like the Alliance or Night elves didn't have tons of blood on their hands as well. Just never understood why they seemed to be setting up where we can choose, but then just decided nah Sylvanas was always bad.

Her power in Shadowlands came from a death god who is now dead. She also gave up on these powers as he betrayed her and her goal to free all mortals from the tyranny of the Shadowlands (that was always the only thing Sylvanas did all this for, to change the Shadowlands that mortals aren't just cattle anymore). Sylvanas could have easily chilled the Zovaal and just give all mortals the finger. That she instead gave up on this to fight Zovaal shows how important her goal was for her. Since there are still souls in the Maw, including from nightelves, it's quite fitting "punishment", though overall Sylvanas doesn't even see it that way (and Tyrande may even know that). Her lover is likely still there (killed by Tyrande) and overall: those souls sent to the Maw were just needed to reach the goal, never to just condem them forever. As things didn't work out exatly as Sylvanas wanted = rewriting the whole system, the Maw still exists, just not as that eternal prison anymore. Freeing those who are still stuck there shouldn't be a problem at all for Sylvanas - it doesn't got against her goal at all and these souls are not needed anymore. Same for Anduin by the way. She did this because they needed him go reach their goal, that's all. That's why she told him over and over again that he should help out of free will and not force them to force him.
