I like your channel very much, in part because you post infrequently, and don’t create drama in order to attract views. Your videos are many things, especially amusing while giving an update as your lives move forward. You know when to speed up presentation, and when to slow down to savor the countryside or a rewarding moment. The music, the silly pup who will never grow up, the challenges of nature and even the day-to-day of your relationship all shine in their own ways. Many, many thanks for including us in your journey; I hope you’ll have that one, viral video that will grown viewership exponentially! KZbin needs content more providers like you, not sensationalistic nonsense that doesn’t tell a story or feed the spirit. ❤

It's 3pm New Mexico USA time, so I'm late to the party. I sit with tea and watch every second. For this elderly sick guy who once lived a spell in Japan, and will celebrate 30 years with my Japanese wife in December, I am mesmerized each video posting. While I imagine the vacuum will do quick work on even a large spider, I don't know about the gecko. Oh, and I mustn't leave without thanking you two for a view of the bamboo blowing in the wind. I miss that. Love from the Southwestern USA.

In America, it’s called spring cleaning which I thinks has to do with the days when winter heating was with coal or fuel oil. It would leave the walls and ceiling black with soot

Oh yes, tarp Day 😬. I live off grid in the mountains of central Otago southern New Zealand, so no running water and no electricity either. I have to do a complete clean out twice a year, that's when I take all the stuff out of my tiny house room by room, put it all on a tarp outside and clean, scrub and polish everything 😮💨 no electricity means hand brushing the carpet every week and doing a triple brush on tarp Day 😬 I sympathize 😂

I'm 48 but if I were any younger had a partner willing to go with me (and if English were my first language and I could teach it in Japan) I'd do anything to move there for good. The world is going crazy now and most people just want peace, many going off-grid to run away from the insanity of the city life. I've been binge watching every valuable video on Japan I could find and it seems to be a dream come true place to settle in for so many people. Japan is certainly not the land of milk and honey, it has its dark side, too, but it's damn close.

god i remember when our dog was the same age and was shedding like WILD 😂 it depends on breed and sometimes weather but usually around the time puppies enter adolescence they will shed all of their puppy coat and slowly start growing their adult coat. and also our boy did what felt like an entire coat blowout when he turned one year and grew in his final bigboy coat 😂 the first year of owning a puppy is always wild! but also considering that these kinda Inu breeds have double coats, it might be good to invest in a good brush and shampoo to help with the yearly coat changes! :) Panchan seems to be a lovely dog!

Another very enjoyable watch. I am inspired to adopt the custom, and your video has shown me the true secret to success in domestic cleaning: (1) a list (2) a dog and by far most importantly the one ingredient I am missing: blue coveralls! I really like the outtake where the dog is licking your ear as you try to clean out those cupboards. And as for that giant spider in the hall, I would just ask politely and not at all try to force it to move. That thing’s HUGE.

I rarely comment on KZbin videos, but I've been following you since last year and the calendar in your home gave me the perfect opportunity to finally say hi, since my husband and I have the exact same one in our Japanese apartment! (Why is it that seeing stuff you have in other people's apartments is so exciting?) My husband and I met in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, in 2017, at a time when we both worked as eikaiwa teachers. After a long series of unexpected life events, including a long-distance relationship when I returned back to Spain and my husband to the UK for a couple of years, we ended up getting married and moving back to Japan together. I discovered your channel last year, when he was back in Japan as an English teacher and we were trying to get hold of a dependent visa for myself. As I'm sure you know, navigating visa stuff when you want to do anything but teaching English in Japan can be quite frustrating, so actually seeing you two live this kind of life, working remotely from the countryside and with a beautiful project like renovating an old Japanese house gave me lots of hope and made the long wait a bit more bearable. Back home, I worked as a translator for several book publishers and currently, I'm struggling to fit that sort of freelance work with the limitations of a dependent visa. I love living in Japan and I love translating books, and your videos -even if completely unrelated- somehow give me hope that I'll be able to figure it out like you guys did and be able to do both things fully (I'd love to get a job in Japan that allowed me to work remotely and to keep some translation projects going!). Congratulations on having such a nice, calming channel and on all the amazing work you do inside and outside the house. Actually being part of the community where you live, instead of being just another foreigner living in their own bubble in Japan, is a big goal of mine!
@maigomika11 ай бұрын
Hi there! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I completely understand your frustration and how difficult the visa process can be, especially when it feels like you encounter roadblocks at every step of the way. Our situation was quite similar, and we had to find creative solutions to overcome these obstacles of the work visa route, which I suspect you known can quite rigid. Don’t give up! I wish you all the best.

I see you have an American-style refrigerator/freezer. Interesting. So many countries have small, what we Americans call dorm fridges, meaning students can use them in their dormitories. I marvel at the ability to make such a small fridge work and wonder why the larger fridges haven't been adopted yet. They make them very energy efficient now.
@sirmione90511 ай бұрын
I think the fridge they use is Japanese style one with the unique door that can be opened to both sides. Japanese people go to grocery store frequently like every other day since freshness of food is very important in Japanese cuisine, so they don’t need a big fridge. Also, size of food packages are smaller in Japan. You can’t find a gallon bottle of milk, it’s normally 1 liter. When I moved to the US from Japan, I was surprised at the size of food products. An ice cream box is like a bucket. No wonder everyone needs a car for shopping. It’s impossible to carry groceries by hands.😅
