Just bought one new a couple of days ago for $1250 brand new. I also have a Gen II. Picked up a couple of Viper Gen II’s last month. I picked the Gen I because it is lighter and has more elevation. Which is what I was looking for the rifle it was going on. I love Vortex. They hold their resale value. And have a outstanding warranty. All of the scopes I purchased recently were on sale.

Great review. You left out the best feature of this scope though. The vertical adjustment amount is much higher on it than it is on the new Razors. 125 moa to 75 moa I believe it is. I'm buying one new.

How does the PST Gen. 2 compare to the Razor Gen. 1?

Also the gen 1 is under $2000 MSRP so its legal for PRS Production class.

I love this scope. The reticle, with the open center, is perfect. I've got more expensive scopes that aren't much better.

I got the gen 1 from an upgrade from Vortex when my Golden Eagle shit the bed twice last year. And absolutely love it. I was given the option for the gen 2 as well but it was out of stock and wait time was about 2 months. Mind you I am in Canada.

If you had to pick between a Steiner T5Xi, Gen 2 Razor, Hensholdt ZF, or Leupold Mk5HD, which would you choose? Would mostly just be for range use and possibly some PRS.

For the price of the Hensoldt, you could get ALL of the other options. it just doesn't bring enough to the table anymore for the price. The remaining three come down to price, features, and reticle in my opinion. My time behind the Mark 5 is limited, but to my eyes all three were pretty close in glass clarity. The price gap has closed significantly. $2k for the Mark 5, $1900 for the Razor, $1600 for the T5. I think you would be well served with any of the three.

Gen 1 has a good bit more elevation (36 mils vs 28.5). I put a Gen 1 on my 338 for the extra elevation.

No. He said if you found a used one in good condition, under that $1600 price tag, you would be getting a good bargain. You can find them around $1100 or so in great condition used. $1600 new is a waste of money; as the Gen II can be had for a bit under 2k if you shop around, and is the superior optic.

@@SpecWarComCrew as of Nov 2022 the Gen II is 2500 on Amazon and the Gen 1 is still selling new for 1600. I just bought one. Great scope. I was going to buy a Viper but decided to go with the Razor.

There's a veterans website that sells them for $1099 with the 10 mil turrets also the Bushnell elite tactical for the same with the Christmas tree prs reticle

I have the Gen II in a Spuhr mount on my AI AT primarily because of Vortex’s generous AD/Mil discount...and have been extremely happy with this combo!

Great scope! GEN II, or most other scopes can't touch it in total elevation. Would love GEN II turrets, glass and the extra magnification on this one, it would be my new favorite; until then this one is it.

Vortex is a great option for rifles even the lower priced optics work just fine , I have been using the HS-T line with good results Leupold has priced me out

Gen 1 = more internal elevation, built like a tank, price point Gen 2 = great features, will eventually need to send in for warranty, 34 tube Trade offs....... I'll stick with my gen 1
