This isn't the only way to do it.
It's probably not the best way to do it.
But it's how I did it.

I saw the Nonsuch in 1969 in Prescott Ontario at fort wellington. The fort and the ship shot their cannons . I was four.

That I2C digital IO expander might be the thing I've been looking for. I have a project I built a year and a half ago that has an I2C OLED display. I want to convert to an Adafruit E-Ink display but the E-Ink display interface is SPI with 2 CS lines (3 if you want to use the SD card reader) and DI line. My original project is already using the ESP32 GPIO pins I'd need for the e-ink. So rather than use a slave microcontroller to manage the display through I2C with would not be able to be reprogrammed with OTA like the ESP32 can, this might work a lot better.

I would like to see the outdoor temp on your display, because we don't get minus temps in SYD - lol -. One corner of my 3D bed is a touch lower, ie, less adhesion there, and that makes it easy to start the peel-off.

Fun mailbag this week, I am going to get some of those temp sensors for a weather station project I'd like to build. On a curious note, do you ever do any projects with UV LED's? I needed a UV lamp for glue hardnening and used a 120v light kit but used UV LED's instead. It worked out great and I ended up making 3 other lamps for my sister in laws plants. Also, I accidentally purchased 300 IR LED's thinking they were UV, (I had a few drinks and went shopping). I'm thinking the IR's can be used for night lights for cameras?

I have some "blacklight" LEDs that I built into a mains light bulb kit, but I haven't done much beyond that.

I was just looking at I/O expanders. I could not place the PCF8574 , but it did ring a bell. I recently saw it on an old video from Hari Waguna #133 kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4emkIxupseYh68&t . I was comparing them to the Microchip MCP23008 which has 8 outputs and 7 inputs. Jon Oxer of SuperhouseTV was talking about the MCP I/O Expanders he uses on his home automation boards and says that they were originally 8 inputs but there is a problem with the eigth input not being stable so they just changed the documentation, they still call it an 8-Bit I/O expander though.

Thanks. It's been a while since I've watched one of Hari's videos. I'll have to check it out.

Am unsure what the primary use case is for the PCF8574, but have played with them quite a bit. Most of mine live on 0x20+A[2-0], and a few (in the same lot) on another address. Some 2-4 line LCD text displays have pads for mounting this chip directly. Of course, this is the chip on the ubiquitous LCD piggy-back module. Data pins may drain a lot (write low), or source a little (read high), and run rather hot. So, these dinosaurs do not offer symmetrical CMOS GPIO, like more modern extenders. Still useful. Long live the Open Collector!

Are you going to use those dc buck converter modules for arduino projects?
@pileofstuff
@pileofstuff Жыл бұрын
Possibly. Or some other project. These will allow me to use a random old wall wart to power circuits that need lower voltages. They come in very handy for all sorts of uses.

Probably. Good idea. Though the thinnest one does already have a pretty sharp leading edge on it.
@JohnBailey39
@JohnBailey39 Жыл бұрын
@@pileofstuff Well yeah.. Palette knives are thin, but the idea is to get just under the edge of the plastic, and break the seal. Try using a utility knife blade to get the idea. Slide it up to the edge with the lower bevel rubbing, then use that as a lever. All pops up with no force, so no damage to the bed.
