This isn't the only way to do it.
It's probably not the best way to do it.
But it's how I did it.

Good stuff. The wire is indeed green. Thanks for the show. Take care.

Thank you! Bought a deburring tool, I sometimes had skin cuts for not having that...

Worth noting that the deburring tool is right-handed only (more expensive ones can be ordered with leftie-friendly blades)

Great Haul! I do have a request if it's not to asky.... Would you please give us a tour of your work bench? I see some interesting squeezy tip bottles and whatnot hangin' around. I'm a curious George and love to see what others use when tinkering around on the workbench. Thanks!

I'll keep that in mind for the next time I do a Q&A video. But be warned... It's a lot messier than you can possibly imagine. OCD viewers might actually implode.

At 18awg, the silicone still makes a diff (comp PVC) because of the high temp, and MUCH higher price!

FYI those wire wound resistors have a fair bit of inductance to them. You mentioned something about speakers; you'll need to check the specs or measure the inductance first before using them for any type of audio or RF to see if they'll introduce any meaningful distortion.
@pileofstuff
@pileofstuff 17 күн бұрын
For RF I agree, that could be a concern. But if I'm just "burning in" an audio amp, I don't expect a but of inductive reactance to be a big worry - especially given the type of load an audio amp is designed to normally connect to.

Awesome assortment of parts. I have been looking for the usb saller size stuff. Never going to have to replace them people don't always use care plugging and unplugging cables.

note the those resistors (if they are not fake) will most likely only handle 100W if mounted to an imaginary infinite heatsink that keeps them at 25'C
@pileofstuff
@pileofstuff 17 күн бұрын
That's probably ok for my application. Especially if I set them up in a parallel/series configuration. And I do have an assortment of salvaged heatsinks around here somewhere.

I really like that deburring tool. I think I first heard about it from Simple Electronics. I need to get a second one for plumbing use since the 3d printer has claimed the current one. Thanks for the fun content as always.

Mag/De-mag ... Any strong magnet will do in a pinch. Put the tool on the magnet and pull it away quickly, the magnetism will stay on the tool. Drag the tool off slowly, and the magnetism will escape back to the magnet. Your mileage may vary.

I got one of those "deburring" tools for my 3D prints. They clean up the edges pretty good, but the quality of the steel definitely doesn't meet the specs they claim. Great for softer things like plastic though

Check the wires if they are made of copper. Probably aluminium.

Have you try out the Deburring Tool Kit? All I got from Ali in the end were blunt knives, that were useless, especially for deburring 3D printed parts

how does green look to you?
@pileofstuff
@pileofstuff 17 күн бұрын
Which green? I know I'm colourblind. Known it for long enough to understand that colours lie to me all the time. Still, most of the world seems to prefer to refer to things by colour names, so I still make an attempt.

I presume you have common color blindness, and you have found out why in many countries (except as usual the USA who does not care) the earth wires have a yellow stripe on them so people like you can recognize it more readily.

i just buy ten 100m reels of 22awg wire, one each of the normal colours. with home project use they last for years and are a lot better quality.

@@pileofstuff OK for any low voltage work, but not rated for higher voltages like mains. but with heat shrink or PVC over it should be good for that. I just like a greater range of colours to chose from. but with your colour blindness this is probably not a requirement.

I steal most of my 18ga from vacuum cleaners. People get a new one every year or two and I find them on the street all the time.
@pileofstuff
@pileofstuff 17 күн бұрын
@@TheEmbeddedHobbyist True, but I generally don't use smaller gauge wire for higher voltages anyway, so it's less of a concern in what i do.
