Nice crop from the bucket, I didn't get around to self watering so I suffered with a lesser crop. Must get this sorted next year

Great to have some updates from you, potatoes have done well! I have major ant issues in my beds too, really tough to deal with without chemicals.

I’ve got so many ant nests their in almost every bed I’m sure they mess with germination of seeds sometimes I had an environmental survey done for our planning appeal and the lady said she’s never seen so many meadow ants 😆 that’s good I suppose but the hills make any mowing difficult

You would need at least 1/4 acre of potatoes to feed a family. Earlies and late varieties.

I think it depends on the size of the family, 1/4 acre is just over 1000 sq/m there was a study in the 70’s that said 370 sq/m would keep one person in all vegetables for a year so x4 say is 1480 but that’s all veg not just potatoes, I could grow enough potatoes for my family of 4 in buckets judging by what I’m getting so far this year in about 100 sq/m
