Main PC Upgrade: Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD

So this video is the first real upgrade I've done for my main rig that I built in 2017, a 500 GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD.
So I had a couple of reasons for this upgrade, firstly I needed to reinstall Windows, as my current Windows 10 1909 install was completely broken due to a Windows update, and secondly I want to transition more things to SSDs, so replacing my existing boot SSD with a new one allows me to replace another mechanical hard drive in my system.

From 46:23 until approx 52:04 there seems to be an editing error where the video goes out of sync. My apologies about this, was either Vegas Pro fucking up the render or HandBrake fucking up the format conversion afterwards.

Furthermore the video is actually freezing, up to a minute, while the audio carries on normally.

Yes I'm aware of that, it was an error that happened during rendering as far as I can tell. I'll make sure to look at the video properly with my next one, was super tired and had work the next day when I uploaded this so I didn't think to check it.

I would seriously consider picking up a low profile heatsink for the drive. They have a naturally warm running duty cycle so depending on how rigorously you use it, It may be worth taking a peek on amazon or wherever to see about a sink. I too have one tucked up behind one of my GPU's. I picked mine up from EK for about 16 bucks USD. There are some other very suitable ones for around the 8-10 dollar mark. They do drop temperatures pretty notably. Im not telling you how you should do up your own rig but I can tell you they are excellent ways to protect the investment. Overall the rig still looks really good. Definitely a worth while upgrade.

Yeah I have considered it, though I'd have to see how much clearance I have to work with between my 580 and the SSD.

This may be the most, “eh, good enough” of computers I’ve seen.

How so? I built this machine three years ago shortly after Ryzen launched. The CPU choice was the second highest end at the time, the RX 580 was brand new at the time of purchase and met my needs at the time, especially since I was coming from an old Radeon 7970 and a Sandy-Bridge Xeon. So yeah, it’s “good enough” for my needs, why waste the money on buying stuff I do not need?
