+halfgeekpartyboy1968 That wonderful. I am so glad to hear this, and I appreciate the share!! This is one of my favorite places, and we really had a good time making this. I try and get down there when I can.

As an Italian from Naples who lives in a jump from the sea I have to say I always love to see something like this market of fish :-) Grazie!
@Realunitedstates10 жыл бұрын
Eusepio1957 Thanks Ettore! We love this market, and it is a very popular place here. It is a little different atmosphere than what one finds in an American grocery store. At this market the vendors try very hard to engage people passing by in conversation to get them to buy. Thanks!Paul

Felt like I was watching the Travel Channel lol. great episode

deathgod57 LOL! This is one of my favorite spots in DC! It was interesting that for the most part the bystanders didn't hardly seem to notice us, or care. I have to talk fairly loud for the microphone, and yet everybody seemed to just go about there business like I wasn't even there. Still, vlogging in public is not for the faint of heart! :D Thanks, Paul

and to think that i don't eat any kind of seafood. :P Hey Paul, sorry i've been busy... these couple of weeks were kind of crazy for me, but here i am.. back again :).. I like how you say "thank you for watching".. i have said that phrase in random moments using your tone hahaha.. "thank you for watching"... it has something in it.
@Realunitedstates10 жыл бұрын
***** Hey, good to hear from you! I am flattered that you've picked up on my signature closing. So even for those that don't care for seafood I though the history of the place was cool. Even I didn't know until I went to do this episode that it was the oldest in America. We're discovering a lot of things about DC we never knew before. Living here is a lot more interesting than just visiting! Paul

and as always... Thank you for watching... yes i picked that up :D.. will you move to washington?
@Realunitedstates10 жыл бұрын
***** Well, sort of. I am working in Washington now, and we are staying outside of the district, and we will move to more permanent quarters soon, but still not sure exactly where.

Joan Sholl Francis Thank you Joan! It truly is a mouth-watering sight to behold. I wish I could have captured the aroma, but then that is probably something best in context. :D We'll be shopping there this weekend for Thanksgiving! Paul

As a fish lover, I could say this is a wonderful tour. Slightly vary compared to where do I live, but great products displayed from my view. My question is, are these products solely distributed locally? Cheers;))))
@Realunitedstates10 жыл бұрын
Firdaus Idros thanks! As far as I know yes, these are only distributed locally. But I actually never thought to ask if they ship anything. I did not seen an sighs about shipping. I think due to the nature of the product that local, over-the-counter sales are the only practical way. Paul

How much do they sell bushel of crabs for?
@Realunitedstates8 жыл бұрын
+Sara Chen I really don't know off the top of my head. I suspect it varies depending on season and other factors. You can contact them directly through their website captainwhitesseafood.com

When is the best time to come? To beat the crowd?
@Realunitedstates9 жыл бұрын
mariaannalong Early morning is the best as nearly as I can tell. In the cold weather the crowds don't get real bad later, but in the spring and summer it gets packed by about noon. Thanks, Paul

@Realunitedstates8 жыл бұрын
I really don't know. And since I am relatively certain they come from multiple places and suppliers it would be impossible to say on any given product, at any given vendor, on any given day, unless one asked the vendor at the time of purchase.

The place no longer exists since new building have been built

No true. I was just past here last weekend, and it is still quite there. Admittedly there are a lot of new buildings AROUND it now, but the Maine Avenue Fish Market is still there and operating just fine.
