The etihad is a brilliant stadium but Maine road can never be replaced and will never be forgotten by true blues! I’m 28 and started supporting city way before any success, still remember the walk into the stadium with my dad and always wanting something from one of the guys selling stuff outside! Still got a badge somewhere with ‘we only 8 man Utd’ on it 😂 how times have changed, I miss those days though! mcfc ok

My first game was in 1956. Ended up living in the shadows of Old Nattford. Had a season ticket for The Kippax. Recently published a comedy about CITY called 5 X 7 on the Kindle e-book store. Live in Loughborough now but still get to some home games. Best fans in the world ... If you’re a CITY fan you’re family!

yep i nod the head and say alright matey everytime i see a blue wearing the shirt or scarf the Kippax was a world on its own on match days ?? nothing like it today and everybody had their own little spots, you knew how to find your mates because they was standing in the same spot every game, even as a snotty kid sitting at the front on the wall, to the back of the kippax to the crowd singers, we knew every little spot in the kippax and i will never forget the leaving the kippax after the match the tunnels and stairs the crush, a swear as a kid your feet never touch the ground leaving the kippax and somebody would fart and all hell brake loose the sink ??? great days

Went to Maine Road for the first time in February 1973, a 1-1 draw against the bindippers, Tommy Smith got sent off. I do miss the old ground, some of my best memories were of standing on the kippax, but had we not moved, we wouldn't have what we have now, so in that respect, although I didn't want to move at the time in 2002, it was definitely the right decision, but Maine Road will be etched in my mind for the rest of my days.
@MrSaltford5 жыл бұрын
its something only the old school fans can understand, and yes moving was right for the club, but the love of our lives home that holds so many memory was hard to move, i still see and feel and smell maine road in my dreams

@@MrSaltford I still have my last two season ticket books from Maine Road, along with all my season cards from the etihad. I'm a sentimental old git of 55, and can't part with them. Like I said, Maine Road holds great memories, but it did become a bit of a mis match of a stadium, God knows how many visits I made there from 1973 to 2003. Our current status is purely because of our move, had we stayed sheikh mansoor would have gone elsewhere, so thank God we did. I'm really proud that I saw City win at Wembley before all my utd supporting mates saw them win there, however I didn't think from 1976 it would be 35 years and countless disappointments before we won again.y son is 17 and a season ticket holder with me and all he's seen is success, and he loves it, but I've made sure he knows where we've been the Gillingham 1999 shirt is his favourite. MCFC is in the blood, it never leaves you. I'll carry on going till I'm no longer here.

@@onthekippaxsince75am born a blue, and not like most of the glory hunters rags fans who found united when winning titles the hardcore city fans went for the love of the club and not glory and for 30 odd years without a trophy we turn up at maine road come rain or snow we would get there the new bread are so so lucky and winning silverware happening almost every season we could only dream about but the worst thing being a die hard back then was the rag fans they loved nothing more than sticking the knife in they even had a banner with a counter clock counting the years what a bunch of cunts
@onthekippaxsince755 жыл бұрын
@@MrSaltford growing up in the 70's for me utd fans were worse then than they are now, and they were shit, at least the last 25 years they have a reason to be arrogant, but back then they had no claim to be, but for me the bindippers are worse than anyone, their arrogance combined with a obnoxious self entitlement is beyond belief, no title for 30 years, yet they think it's their God given right to just turn up and brush everyone aside. I hate the filthy fuckin scumbags, it's got to a point now where I'd rather see the rags win the league. Last season's title was our greatest ever achievement, however if we manage to retain it this time, it will eclipse last year. Come on City

@@MrSaltford So eloquently put couldn't have worded it better myself. What a bunch of cunts they were/are. Being a blue back then certainly had nothing to do with winning trophies. My Grandad first took me in 78 and how I grew to love Maine Road. I have never quite felt the same about the Etihad or the last 10 years just cant get used to it. Much prefer the old times.

@@MrSaltford indeed. i once saw him very close up on ground level and i am 5'5", 9 stone etc so small by most people's standards and he was like an actual size smaller. still the most amazing person i've ever seen (15 times over the years) live and a continuous inspiration after decades of being a fan. i saw his clothes in exhibition once too and not only are they tiny but much softer/flimsier than they look from afar almost like stuff to wear to bed hahaha, no matter the style/look. almost like an eastern prince. funny that. 🙂

yep everton have the best old style stadium left in the premier league and you lose all that magic when you move, the smell the feel the noise the night games its all there when you close your eyes, but the new stadiums are a must for the top clubs and getting families and people into corporate and hospitality is a must and the revenue it generates over the working mans season tickets sadly your right manchester city have become a corporate & hospitality club and the cheap seats for the working class are becoming less and less, but its not all doom and gloom man city have a season for £330 right up in the gods on the 3rd levels hahahaha
