30 year local. Roughly, yes. You could end up walking 1.5-2 hours one way depending on where you want to stay. The Holiday Inn is out of the way but I think they have a shuttle to take you where you want. If you really want to get around without using Lyft or taxis, the bus system works very well and will connect you almost anywhere in Bangor, Brewer, Hampden, Orono, and Old Town if you can put up with the rough types that use it.

So all Bangor has to offer is restaurants and bars.

Yep. Always been that way since they closed the brothel . When I first came to Bangor, every night was a drunken brawl of smashing bottles and trashing downtown with pizza boxes, fast food wrappers, beer can a thousands of smashed bottles, ripped off tree branches, uprooted flowers& plants, vomit....well, you get the picture.....

Moved out of Maine 10 months ago. Hail from Bangor region. I miss it somewhat. Bangor has worked hard to survive. Has done much better than some (ehheem, 🫢Augusta & Waterville). I miss the food. When it comes to American, we do food better.
