I could help you out on further videos concerning Moving to Maine. French culture is Quite rich up here in Aroostook County which America Seized From Canada or Should I say the British in the Pork & Beans War aka the Aroostook County War there was a time when this northern border wasn't well defined and the local lumber jacks went to swinging axes about it & then a US federal agent was killed in New Brunswick Canada the US assembled troops & a Fort but the British didn't Concur with any interest in War so the USA Kept Aroostook County the biggest county east of the Rocky mountains

I'm so excited you mentioned the Desert of Maine! Fun fact: it became desert because of excessive potato farming. There's a restaurant in Portland called Governor's where I once had a wicked awesome blueberry milkshake which was clearly made with local blueberries (which are actually little blueberries, not like the ones you'd typically get at the supermarket). As to the whole "we're not Canada" thing, I still remember a time when one of my suitemates from graduate school, a guy from Montreal, gave me a lift to Vermont on his way back home. He commented, "Yeah, this looks just like Canada!" Great video, Nick!

Grew up in central Maine not on welfare, but in a trailer on a half acre surrounded by farm land. Think you missed the mark on this section. It’s definitely poor, hard working folk who really struggle to survive. Maines biggest problem is the economy. Just FYI (for those who care), the state tree of the Pine Tree State is specifically the White Pine. That is significant because that's what the (British) Royal Navy used for the main masts of its sailing ships back in the day, with the White Pine being the tallest tree in the Northeast (over 100' tall). Mature trees can easily be 200 to 250 years old. Some white pines live over 400 years.

It's unfortunate you didn't spotlight Old Orchard Beach in Maine in a good way. It has the first and only seaside amusement park. We have fireworks every Thursday in the summer. It's quite a happenin town in the summer. Maybe you should try this again and come back up but leave your condescending attitude that you have in other videos, like the southern states videos.

As a local from OOB, he is completely right. It’s gross and unkempt and dumb over crowded in the summer. Wintertime OOB is very pretty but still not comparable to other places like York or ogunquit. Don’t be defensive because you vacation in the only trashy part of Maine. I live here year round and love it but fully embrace that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Fireworks don’t make up for crackheads lol

Most Mainers don’t eat lobsters regularly. I think most lobsters are eaten by tourists or shipped out of state. When we first moved to Maine we ate lobster a couple times a month. But the novelty quickly wore off and we only had lobster once or twice a year after that. Lobster doesn’t have much taste and it’s a messy pain to eat. In college they had a cookout where you could get a lobster or a steak. Most of the students from Maine (including me) picked steak. All the out of staters got lobster.

News flash: that $25 lobster they pay a fisherman $3 for tastes the same everywhere. 10 cent hot dog buns are nothing special. Make your own, hot and fresh instead of that dump.
