One thing to keep in mind with the XM5s is that the ear tips degrade to the point of being unusable after six or seven months of heavy use, and replacements are not cheap or easily available, especially in Ireland. If you keep them for three or four years, you should anticipate spending maybe 120 or more on replacement ear tips if you want to stick with the OEMs.

Own the Jabra Elite 10 gen 1 and pretty satisfied with them. I use all my audio listening gear with Wavelet and boy it is a game changer when it comes to delivering quality audio. Coming back to Elite 10,the comfort is excellent, ANC is at par and call quality is also good. So far so good, but will upgrade in a year to something more beefy like Technics or Denon Pearl Pro!

I bought the QC2 a while back, after watching yours and others reviews of them, and I haven’t regretted for a second. Yes, they have connectivity issues from time to time and you need to re-pair them every time you switch to a different device. But their ANC and sound quality is truly amazing. I can sit in a busy Starbucks or go on a walk on a busy street and be in my own bubble. That’s all that really matters to me. Great job!

Thank you for the thorough review! I just got a pair of Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 and am not thrilled with them. The control customization is pretty limited and I found connecting the app to the buds a bit finicky. Finally, the sound quality to me is a bit tinny on the high end but I usually use over-ear headphones which makes for an unfair comparison. Still, I am hoping that some of the others - like the Bose, the Technics, and the Amiron might provide warmer sound.
@AndysTechToneАй бұрын
I found the Jabras sound a bit too bright as well. The Bose and the Technics are definitely warmer, especially the AZ80 which has plenty of bass extension

I have the pro 2’s and what I like about them is they work flawlessly with my iPhone and they have survived multiple trips through the laundry machine , by accident, however I found the sound especially the base to be lacking. I also have the nose qc2 and I use them when I want a richer sound and more base. However they can be glichy when connecting to my iPhone. And the controls are sometimes too sensitive which can be annoying. So basically when I want to listen to music or watch a movie I use the Bose. I use the apple ones as my go to everyday carry when I am at work and need to answer calls and just beee them to work with zero glitching out.

There’s something you could talk about in the future. Whenever you just want to use only one earbud, all of them activate hearthrough no matter what. I think Jabra is the only one that allows you to deactivate this behaviour. This is important for me because use only one while cycling and I hate to have to manually activate sound cancellation all the time. Also use under the rain and snow could be useful too in the review.
@AndysTechToneАй бұрын
@@mateusmorgado I see your point and it makes total sense. In fact, I like cycling myself too and was thinking about including all the single mode stuff. Is the sound mono mixing both channels into one? Are the control functions the same in single mode? How the ANC/ambient settings change? There would be a lot to cover but including every single aspect would make these videos way too long I'm afraid. And I have to draw a line somewhere unfortunately. Maybe a special "director's cut" would be the way to go 🙂 As for testing in the rain and snow, yeah, I really do not want to do that if you don't mind... 😅

this was very comprehensive and the conclusion was on point. I owned wony xm4 and senheiser momentum3 both of witch faild on me so I got to use them basically for free but with some annoyance. Out of those I liked the sonys a bit more for the defined sound at the ends, wich you kinda mention the same. I came to this video because I wanted to see how beyerdynamic is holding up with their second tw-earbuds because I use one of their headsets. The test shows me that at the moment there is no real advantage over the 45€ cheaper sonys. I'll have to watch this video agein though to take everything into account. A spreadsheet with the results would be very helpful because in veideo format, while great production, it is quite extensive information in a short time and hard to take in but maybe you want that in a way you have to get your watchtime to make money of this as well. thanks for your work

Will you make a proper review of the Amiron 300. I’m a fan of Beyerdynamic and have Overear Headphones and the Verio 200 specifically for when I need ambient noise. I was wondering here though if I should get them or Airpods, I have a mixed environment with an iPhone, MacBook but also Windows and Linux devices. Overall sound quality is more important than ANC or Transparency modes. But I hate the background hiss of wireless headphones and was wondering specifically if there is a difference with these earbuds if one has more or less hiss than the other, like when they are connected but no audio playing or during quiet audio where it is more noticeable.
@IMHO88-dm1xfАй бұрын
Like your comprehensive comparison video Andy. And I'm glad you didn't rank the sound quality. However, I was hoping you didn't just use the stock sound settings for your analysis. Who listens to ear buds or headphones using the stock setting - do you?? Does not showcase what these buds can do in sound quality. Just like in a sports car, does one test drive it just in its standard mode? Should have optimised every ear bud to your liking then give us your opinion. The stock setting of the Sony, Bose and MTW4 sounds so flat and dull out of the box. As your probably aware, the MTW4 sounds so much better, especially the mids, highs and definitely opens up the sound stage after doing the, "Sound Personalisation" test. Same with the Bose and Sony, after adjusting the personalised EQ. So in your next comparison video please consider commenting the stock tuning sound compared to your optimised sound setting. Because what you said about the sound quality does not help at all. I'm someone who thinks sound quality trumps over other qualities.
@AndysTechToneАй бұрын
@@IMHO88-dm1xf I understand your point of view but I do not necessarily agree with it. I personally do listen to earbuds without any EQing and I reckon that so do the majority of people. And each bud has a stock tuning or sonic character for a reason. This is what the manufacturer meant their product to sound like. And I want to share my take on that just to keep things simple and easy to understand. If I started EQing I'd probably end up with different settings for different genres, use cases, ANC modes and that would make things infinitely more complicated in my opinion.
@IMHO88-dm1xfАй бұрын
@AndysTechTone - I understand your POV, Andy. I mean no need to explain each EQ settings under different music genres but just how different does each bud/headphone sound after you have optimised the EQ sound settings to your liking. Basically how much better the buds sound afterwards. Yes, they have a stock tuning but also a personalised EQ option as well, so I think the manufacturers have included that feature just in case one doesn't like the stock tuning. (and I think that feature was included in the high end price, so why not take advantage of it). If I listened to just the stock sound on the MTW4, Sony and Bose, then I would be very disappointed and would not buy them. For example, the B&W Pi7 doesn't have a personalised EQ option, so that tells me that's how B&W intends these buds to sound, no adjustments needed. Yes, there's also the EQ shift with ANC on/off but that's a discussion for another time...
@IMHO88-dm1xfАй бұрын
@@AndysTechTone - it's different if you were to rank them, then I think using the stock sound setting would be more suitable, consistent.
@AndysTechToneАй бұрын
@@IMHO88-dm1xf So what should I do in the case of the B&W Pi7 which offers no personalised EQ? I did not test them, so I don't know for sure but how would I compare those buds to others with EQ for example? Maybe I should use third party apps as others have already suggested many times. This whole discussion just proves how complicated things can get when we add all these variables to the equation. Not that I don't enjoy having these discussions 🙂
@IMHO88-dm1xfАй бұрын
@AndysTechTone - I think using a third party app is not a good idea because that setting doesn't carry over to another device and it's not from the proprietary App. As for the Pi7, (it's like the Air Pods Pro 2 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro) talk about their sound signature based on what's available, like how you had described how each bud sounded to you in this video. What I'm trying to say, if there's a personalised EQ setting available in their app or anything that would make a difference to improve the sound, eg Sound Personalisation test for MTW4 (that made a big difference for me compared to adjusting the EQ) please tell us what you think after you have optimised the sound to your liking. If the manufacturers have included an App for the buds and lets you adjust the EQ, then I think you should test it out and tell us what you think... BTW, I like how you're outdoors in your microphone test so we can hear how they perform in real life situations. 🙂

Own a samsung buds 3 pro, totally blown away by the sound and call quality when your pair with your Samsung phone (s23 ultra in my case) You are doing something wrong with the mic test, it's actually on par with airpods, you should send a voice mail with every ear buds to understand how the mic works, recording with app shows bad results in buds 3 pro For sound quality, it should be top 3 if you connect it with a Samsung device (bad you miss tht when a Samsung device can be fetched easily now a days) thus you won't get the better codec and will sound average.. Try again that way, may be it will change your rating 😅

If Samsung didn't limit the use of other hi-res codecs I would consider getting one of their phones for testing. But I don't have the resources to buy multiple $1000 phones every year or two unfortunately

@AndysTechTone you dint have to spent 1000 dollar to get samsung codec. It's available even for the cheapest samsung phones. Aptx variants are actually hard to find

I think "premium" should only be used for the headphones that loop over the top of the ear
@AndysTechToneАй бұрын
Every market has it's own premium segment. It has nothing to do with being in-ear or over-ear.

@AndysTechTone you don't get what I'm saying. Ok.is it your ego .anyway. can tell there's no way of getting to. Nevermind. You are the headphones master, it is what you say.
