Excellent idea with the touchscreen. Great vid. Thanx:)

Thanks for the video! I use MainStage as well, but I also have the Motif Rack ES as a back up. I definitely will explore the touch screen method shown here. The Korg collection (especially the Triton Extreme) VSTs are excellent plugins and work great within MainStage, well worth the money.

Sounds like a great setup! I'm actually not using MainStage as much these days because I am using the Akai MPC Key 61 mostly for live and studio. MainStage is very cool and the sounds are amazing, but over the years I've had some bad experiences with computers on stage.

It’s great. Would you consider sharing the software set up?

Software? Mainstage app is available on Apple store for $30.

Thanks. I have mainstage. Just wondering if you would share the mainstage file?.

Ah...Can you please send your email address? I'm on the road right now so it might be awhile.

thank you David- this is Touchscreen Solution is exactly what I'm looking for...also the MainStage patch is pretty interesting- I would like to know more of what's going on under the hood-is there any way to share the MS File? Thank You.

I'm not actually using this setup live anymore- I'm mainly using my Akai MPC Key 61 since its so easy to have loops/MIDI playing in the background. Mainstage is def. cool but having a laptop on stage is a real pain. I'm not sure where the MS file is located but I'll see if I can find it. Can you send your email address?

Thanks for the video. Really helps as one of the things that are stopping me from taking the plunge into mainstage ecosystem, is the smaller display + lack of touch screeen. I notice a lag in the touch screen .. would you still recommend this after a year?
@davidcoate8946 Жыл бұрын
Exactly! The touchscreen issue is hilarious since Apple has been into that technology for years now. I honestly didn't find lag in the touchscreen to be a big problem. It's more like getting to the right spot on the screen quickly while you are playing. Even though mainstage is fantastic, and the sounds are great, I am not using it a ton live these days. Instead I am using the Akai MPC Key 61 because it can do everything mainstage does - and then some- without fooling around with computers and cables on stage. I know quite a few musicians who have a macbook pro teetering on top of their keyboard controller, and its just an accident waiting to happen! For live playing, I want something bulletproof that's not going to be tripped over, etc. All of that said, mainstage with a touchscreen is very nice!

I thought Mainstage only ran on MacBook? how are you running it on an iPad?
@davidcoate8946 Жыл бұрын
It's running on a Mac Mini, housed in a small road case for live gigs. The display in the video is not an iPad. It is a small touchscreen.

This is so crazy! @@davidcoate8946 Like you, am relatively new to Mainstage. Upgraded to a MacMini Pro last week. I settled on a 16-inch monitor which I thought was really wise because I'm in the "over 50 club"😊. Are you telling me that I have the option to get a touch screen with my MacMini? If I am understanding you correctly sounds like the ultimate setup! Is there a special monitor I should look for? Thanks!
