The claim that the tall tower crane lowers the center of gravity is unfounded. The ONLY thing that changes the center of gravity is weight and moment arm. Any other claim is based on faulty thinking. Please don't deceive the public like this.

Thank you for the comment Robert. The center of mass that we are talking about is vertical center of mass (How far the weight is from the ground). This is often talked about as how “top heavy” a vehicle is. Maintainer’s tall tower cranes reduce the mass of the vehicle by up to 275#. This is because there is less mass in the tower of the crane as there is in a reinforced raised compartment. Additionally, the typical layout of a pedestal crane is 24” above the centerdeck height, where the tall tower crane is only 18” taller than the short tower. This lowers the weight of the tower & the lift cylinder an additional 6”. If you have more questions, we would love to explain in more detail, please give us a call at 712-324-5001.
