Thanks, Jess for another great video. You remind me of myself. A perfectionist even when I try not to be. If I see a spot or a dog hair, I just have to get it. You do the same. It's hard to turn a blind eye once you see the spot missed. I've never used VRP but have always used good things. Doesn't seem to last long. I have heard of people diluting it to various ratios. One person uses it on the cleaned engine compartment diluted 10:1. Again, don't know the longevity. It looks like you have a great detailing business. I agree, windows are my least favorite. It's always hard to get all streaks. What looks good today, has streaks tomorrow depending on the angle of the sun.

Thank you so much. Yes, I just can’t let the details go, but I think that’s a part of why business has been so good. I don’t know about the longevity of VRP either…I like to always try them on my own vehicle to see but my Aqua Gloss is still shining strong in my vehicle after almost 2 months haha Windows are flat out exhausting!

Great video, lots of info and thanks for letting us know all the chemicals... I just started using Xpress and did not know about that cleaning ways but I did notice that so now I know what to do, suggestion pair your P&S Xpress with the P&S Xpress Sidekick Interior Scrubber and you'll love it cover more area and fast also look into the Ridgid Air Compressor 4.5 gallon 200psi that will push your Tornador Cleaning Gun... Thanks For all the videos, LINKS and information....

For door jams, use ONR mixed at a quick detailer ratio of 8 oz per 1 gallon. Super cost effective. If you want a little protection left behind, use ONR wash and wax.

Jess. VRP can be definitely be diluted 1:3 off label for interior. Helps keep the gloss down. It's definitely a good product. Give it a try diluted and see how you like it.
@DetailWithJess
@DetailWithJess 8 ай бұрын
Thank youuu! Glad to know that!! Does it make it streaky at all or does it still apply nice and evenly? My aqua gloss would get a little streaky and I never knew if it was due to the dilution.
@wescat2
@wescat2 8 ай бұрын
@@DetailWithJess I've only used it with distilled water for personal use. No streaks so far. Though for a business it's not cost effective. May be worth a shot. Worst case try a small spot and if you don't like it a little APC can remove it and you can go back to full strength.

Love this. There are plenty of professional detailers with vast experience who could learn from watching this video. If I may make some suggestions. Don't spray compressed air into the speakers. Drivers are quite fragile but if you feel it helps, put some distance between the air and the speaker grills. Great idea to video the car before working on it. Given how important the air compressor is to your process, it is important to your business to understand why the electrics are tripping. This may be a product fault, maintenance issue or user error. My knowledge of compressors is almost zero so I cannot offer any insight. Finding the route cause will help you make money. Have a look for '5 why' problem solving Put labels on your bottles. This reduces the chances of spraying the wrong chemical on the wrong surface and critically, if some chemical damages you and you cannot explain to a doctor what is in the chemicals then it will take much longer to help you. The cleaning leather etc and then using a dressing means you are doing the journey twice. I would not use a dressing on a maintenance detail plus I don't like the glossy look to leather but this is a commercial decision for you. However, it is costing you a LOT of time (money) and energy but if you want to do a two step then clean and then apply the dressing to one section before moving on. If you want to learn more about this, do a search for 'lean one piece flow'. It feels counter intuitive and many people do not like it until you show them just how fast the process can be. If you want to save money on the interior cleaning chemicals then consider a rinseless wash (any brand). The comments about changing your process are really interesting. I guess the risk is you introduce variance into the process and most businesses spend a lot of money into reducing variances and this impacts quality. One thing you could try is to put you mental efforts into thinking about improving every minor aspects of your processes. For example, this car in the video is a Lexus and one of the key reasons for the success of Toyota/Lexus is the workforce are expected to find tiny improvements to the process every day, this improves the cars and keeps the workforce mentally engaged. If you can do this, you will increase profits, work less hard and increase quality. Don't think of a final inspection as a chance to catch any missed areas, use the final inspection as a test of how effective your processes are.

Awesome tips, thank you so much! Someone had just shared with me Meguiar’s 2 in 1 which will be a huge time saver. I’m constantly challenging myself to be more efficient…but not matter what I do, the time ALWAYS ends up the same..but I keep trying! All of my bottles are labeled, that’s for sure a must 😁 As for the electronics, I did not realize that I was using way too small of a surge protector, so I purchased a larger one👍🏻 I am definitely eager to learn though and will most certainly search out the lean one piece flow! THanks!

@@DetailWithJess The world of efficiency has been really well understood for many years. There are lots of formal approaches to efficiency with an incredible amount of metrics but an alternative is to simply identify the 100 little things that irritate you and fix one a day. Officially there are 7 wastes called Muda and one of them is the waste of movement. For example walking back and forward to a van may feel like work but with a small cart or belt, you could reduce the amount of journeys and still get the same result. Efficiency is not about doing more with less, it is about doing less more often. Think of your process as starting when you arrive on site and concludes when you drive away. Set up and tear down time is easy pickings for improvement. People always look for the big changes and discount the little improvements. Save 10 minutes a day and you will get an over an extra week a year to do more work

how many gallons is your air compressor? do you have problems with the tornador keeping up? i’ve yet to get one but till i do i find that my mini air canon used for getting water out of the nooks and crannies on the ext. and general ext. drying, works great to blow out interiors.
@DetailWithJess
@DetailWithJess 8 ай бұрын
It’s only a 1 gallon air compressor. With the Tornador gun, I have learned to work with it and have no issues, but I bought the Tornador Velocity Vac and it doesn’t work at all (I’m assuming it not working is due to the small tank). I’d recommend a bigger tank if you have the ability to have a bigger tank though!

I am still trying really hard to get speedier but full interiors and exteriors always take me the same time no matter what. But i pretty much just have a standard routine that I follow: tornador, vacuum, clean hard surfaces, UV protect, windows, wheels, presoak bugs, wash, sealant, dry, dress wheels, protect exterior plastics, clean exterior windows.

You’re pulling way too much power out of that little surge protector. You aren’t taking full advantage of your generators 30amp plug. You could really benefit from making a 2 gang electrical box for it.
@DetailWithJess

Thank you. I purchased a larger joules surge protector. So, there is a reason I’m not using the 30 amp plug. Because you [or someone else…?] mentioned it before…I even purchased and have the adaptor for it, but there was something very specific that I’d read…I can’t remember the reason right now, but it clearly stated I couldn’t use the 30 amp. I wish I could remember what it was, but there was a reason I wasn’t using it….
