How can I tell the difference between a well used leather honing wheel or composite honing wheel? I purchased an older used Tormek, and I can’t figure out if it’s leather or composite. There’s a seam but it’s also black all the way through.

Hi Adam! If it is an original Tormek honing wheel and there's a seam it is a leather honing wheel. My torment T8 always squeaks when I turn it on. I’ve cleaned it and put white lithium grease on it but still squeaks when turned on. I can’t figure out why?

@@TormekSharpening hi, I fixed the problem. The inner honing wheel was dirty, so I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and the squeaking went away. 😊

Guys I am a bit disappointed. I purchased a T4 bush craft last week brand new. The wheel was not round. In fact it was making my whole machine wobble. I thought maybe the shaft was bent but no, the wheel was oval, not round. So I had to borrow a truing tool to round off the wheel. That took over an hour. I have to say it took the excitement out of my purchase. Please check the quality control on your wheels as it reflects poorly on Tormek. When registering I also let them know. No reply. Then I commented on another post by Tormek. No reply. No doubt I won’t receive a reply here either.
