Maintenance Placards

The General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) has identified a number of fatal general aviation accidents that were caused by attempting flight in aircraft that were undergoing maintenance and not yet returned to service. This safety enhancement suggests adopting lock out/tag out methodology to ensure pilots are aware of un-airworthy aircraft conditions.

Planes should have a runway data computer that shows visual and sound audio alerts about runway information. Planes in the air would see and or hear something like - runway temporaly closed - or show 1-3 Xs in front of the runway on the runway data computer until the aircraft or other obstacle is cleared of the runway.they could also see any aircraft that is still on the runway Planes on the ground could see their position on a map and a line on the map shows them how to navigate the taxiways to get them to the correct runway for takeoff It would work good when there is low visibility

Or there could be a system whereby runway (and other airport/airspace/navaid) information could be provided in a handy text format which accompanies pre flight briefings. The FAA could even use shorthand to make reading many of these notices to airmen easier to read quickly. They could even mandate via regulation that pilots must obtain the notices relevant to their proposed flight during the pre flight process. If conditions suddenly change, it would be nice for the airports to broadcast this information via a voice information service through the aircraft communication equipment. If you're not catching the sarcasm.. this is an inappropriate application of technology. This problem was solved 70+ years ago, using 70+ year old technology.
