I it were true then why is virtually every billionaire male, the vast majority of CEOs, why do no womens sports get funding, why are women still treated like shit by people like you if they show any intelligence, why do even women professors rate identical resumes lower if one is gendered female, why are women regularly killed by jealous exes who think they own them and so many other examples? Do you have ANY clue how the world works? What did your mum do to you for you to hate her so much?

Im sorry - but you just lie and lie - both men and women face over 1 in 3 chance of rape - and more men are raped in US ALL MALE PRISONS than women are raped in america, but the worldwide statistic is VERY different. Certainly the rape of men is a huge issue, but that doesnt make the rape of women at 2ce the rate in the general pop any less of an issue. And its just your family that are neanderthals - not men. its a species not a gender.

+baddogonline American women only have a 2.6% of being raped in their lifetime? Where are these statistics? I'm not American, but I find that hard to believe, especially when such a large proportion of rapes aren't even reported. Pls link me to wherever you've found this info x

Natalie Dormer has to be one of the most astute women I have ever come across. She is brilliant and so well spoken. Her ideas are always well thought out and her answers are very polished. She has some wonderful insight into the psychological effects that television, film, and media in general have on young girls minds as well as young boy minds. I think that the definition of feminist for her is spot on and there is nothing wrong with that. Dormer's ideas should be praised as well as accepted. People should continue to investigate and to question why it is that women's roles seem to continue to be so one-dimensional, despite the many advancements in television and film.

Typical. Natalie states that women are just as complex as men and have these things known as feelings and STILL there are comments below that follow: 'Ughhh dum feminist! Fucken annoying!' Really? zoned247 It's simple really, James Bond is an established male character who was designed to cater to a male audience, which he has been doing now for a fair few years. Why change it? Some people tried to change James Bond a few years back, make it a bit more PC, with I believe Geoge Lazenby. Know how many Bond films he made? I believe that Natalie Dormer is a brilliant actress, but regarding Bond it's almost offensive to suggest that simply gender bending a male character is the "refreshing" thing to do, even if the role would be filled by said brilliant actress.
@TheSteelEcho666
@TheSteelEcho666 9 жыл бұрын
zoned247 If the brave thing to do alienates the biggest part of your audience, is it the right thing to do? Okay, I'll give you that the last one ,made me laugh. I can't imagine a black bond doing anything different than a white bond. Regarding a female bond, she'd be the same, but a "man-controller", and that wouldn't be any better, would it? And if she weren't, the whole film would basically be a non alcoholic beverage. You may like the taste of beer but not want to get drunk, but I'll give you a lot more people who either like the beer and like getting drunk, or just want to get drunk.

Wow... Natalie is just as clever as I expected her to be. Really intelligent. I think as a director you can only dream to work with an actor like her. Maisie is also so great and she seems so genuine and pure hearted. I only wish they made Arya really kick ass because until now it seems like everytime she provokes someone or gets in trouble some randoms come and help her out. That's a bit a cheap way of story telling and it's the same for Danaerys. So we still see differences between the writing for male characters and female characters but it's way better than what we normally see. But hell Margaery is just perfect, so interesting and as Natalie said not at all like the stereorypes that writers often create for female roles.
@Princessbuttercupish
@Princessbuttercupish 9 жыл бұрын
Fantastic platform to bring up that female characters are just as complex as male ones! Hopefully in the future females are written with complex personalities instead of being slid into the two typical types. The typical 'perfect' love interest type is getting so completely boring and old by now.

That's the thing about actors. Especially child/teen actors or actors that have played such a popular role. People see them as their character when they aren't on screen. And I bet it's very tiring being called "Arya" or "Cersei". Actually, now that I mention her, Lena Headey (Cersei) had said in an interview that a fan of the show came up to her and called her a bitch during one of the conventions. It just goes to show how blind and ignorant people are.

Ah, Natalie, before I only vaguely recognized your talent and liked you as an actress. But now I realize you are of like mind, opinion (these days women are afraid of being labeled a feminist but you bravely speak out) and so, I like you as a person. I may be becoming a fan... I wish more actresses and people would make a stand against the pervasive sexism, it's so commonplace that we don't recognize it for its slow rot. And also, I wish we would not waste our efforts fighting the "mani cam", I mean seriously THAT is not what is bringing down women. The red carpet is not the place for hard hitting questions about your character roles, I feel like it was a way for actresses to "act" like they knew anything or cared any amount for gender equality (this may be getting a bit off topic)...

I adore Natalie Dormer but I get the sense she doesn't understand her own character- Margaery is supposed to be a mystery to the viewer. We are not SUPPOSED to know if she leans more toward good or bad. My guess is she's a very ambitious person who would like to do good if she can, but would be very capable of bad deeds.
@mycosys
@mycosys 9 жыл бұрын
indiciaobscure is that info from The author's mouth (which she has) or your interpretation of the book (that she also has)?
@indiciaobscure
@indiciaobscure 9 жыл бұрын
It's not what we're told about Margaery in either the book or show. It's what we're not told. In the book we only see her on the periphery, mostly as an object of Cersei's obsession. In the show she's much more fleshed out and has clearer motivations, but the only times we can be sure of her true nature is when she talks to Lady Olenna. She is much more serious and less playful and appeasing with her grandmother, and she discusses a battle plan of how to navigate her life. The only suggestion we have of her true morality is when she complains that Joffrey will likely give her a necklace of sparrow's heads, which means she doesn't like wanton cruelty. GRRM may have told her 'Your character is in truth a wonderful person beneath her diplomacy," but he certainly hasn't said anything like that to his audience.
@mycosys
@mycosys 9 жыл бұрын
indiciaobscure so you are saying you have no information but are basing it on inference from what she says to her grandmother? do you tell everything to your family? You wouldn't tell your master manipulator grandmother stuff she would be proud of? REAL People arent simple.people dont have one motivation - they have cognitive dissonance, they dont make sense, they are a mass of conflicting motives and desires.
@indiciaobscure
@indiciaobscure 9 жыл бұрын
Mijc Osis I absolutely agree with you on that last point. I am only saying that her talks with her grandmother are the only time she can be truly herself- the rest of the time she is being a diplomat and playing the 'perfect queen'. That is why I am saying she can not be said to be 'good person'- because we don't know. Natalie Dormer seems to believe her character is a 'good person', which she may well be, and actors usually dig into the motivations of their characters and build sympathy for them in the process, so I understand her desire to believe this. But her character is clouded and unclear. We only know she has ambition ("I don't want to a queen, a want to be The Queen."), and is an excellent diplomat. Unlike with characters such as Jon Snow or Sansa, we don't see scenes where her guard is completely down, unlike with Oberyn, Petyr, or Tyrion, there are no impassioned speeches, and we never see her alone. For example at her wedding feast with Joffrey, we only see flickers of her true self- her worried expression when he begins to display his sadistic temperament to a crowd (which would endanger his role as king, and therefore her new, hard-won position) before she swiftly switches to a sweet expression and tries to distract him. I find her absolutely fascinating because we don't know her fully, and I hope GRRM or the show explores her inner thoughts more fully, though I fear she will be AWOL or dead soon.
@indiciaobscure
@indiciaobscure 9 жыл бұрын
Mijc Osis Also, when you have little information on some one, it good practice to read between the lines, hence inference. What is not said is as important as what is- what is called in drawing 'negative space.' You pay careful attention to the empty areas in your drawing in order to create a more complete image. Inference is in no way a bad thing- if you have limited knowledge it can be a useful tool. It is much like process of elimination. You can't use it to make solid judgements, but it is perfectly valid to use it to lead you toward the right path.

Natalie Dormer as Harley Quinn anyone? When she said she was a huge Batman fan it just struck me. Hottest Harley Quinn to date!

She seems thoughtful and is articulate enough to accurately lay out her ideas, yet her ideas hold prejudicial premises that distort reality. She indulges in publicly accepted post-modern misandry, this emotional compulsion to think of men as a group of condemnable perpetrators and/or responsible for immoral or wrong deeds against women, rather than a more nuanced perspective that there's individuals, men and women, who act out such deeds directly or indirectly in their own beliefs and/or interests. Such skewed world view relates to identity politics. People tend to wrongfully associate one's intelligence with one's ideology when they support the latter.

I did this quiz twice. one time I was Arya and one time I was Tyrion. I only changed one answer, I don't remember which. But I know that I found it pretty funny that is said Tyrion the first time, although I answered the question "How's your sex-life?" (or was ist love-life? I think it was sex-life) with not existing
