Maize is our staple cereal here in south central Africa, and is mostly grown on a small scale by smallholder farmers using traditional methods and relatively limited inputs. Yields are normally low, with most farmers producing just enough to feed their families and only selling a small surplus.
But in order to continue being able to feed our ever-growing population, more emerging farmers will have to step up and use modern machinery and best agronomic methods to achieve larger yields.
This video shares how we established a crop of maize at our new farm, Kimberley.
