@@FunGamerFever I run the 2.5 gb out to a 2.5gb switch to my media server and main PC, then a large switch to the rest of the network. So streaming is smooth as silk. Great video! Ended up getting the Asus AX11000 from Micro Center (used to go to Fry's as it was closer but we know that story) and I love it. I had the AC5300 previously but an antenna got snapped off it, luckily both routers support Asus Ai mesh so now the 5300 is working pretty well as an extender for my outside cameras.

Has the ASUS been working better? I just purchased the RAX200, but thinking of exchanging for ASUS.
@konidk
@konidk 3 жыл бұрын
@@jaron2139 Much better. I do not have random disconnects from the wired connections which was my biggest issue since I game online a lot. I do have a couple gripes though: I still have random disconnects from Wifi, and channels not authenticating, but that is probably something on my end as the Netgear did the same thing. I also have to reboot the router once a week or so, mostly on the weekends. I am assuming it is due to the amount of devices being used, but I start having slow connections. FYI, I am a gamer mostly, and far from an expert on this stuff so the issues I am having may be my fault entirely for not setting up router better. Overall I am much happier with the performance, and my only regret is not getting the newer Wifi 6e version.

Great video as usual Chris with obviously lots of time effort and energy involved in doing this group test for us. Look forward to seeing the results from the 6E routers once they start coming out. I know they will be pricey as all early adopting kit is. But with the real life testing you do it’ll help us decide if it’s really worth making the jump to it. Have to add, your reviews always seem to be timed perfectly for my own needs having just got full fibre to home here in Scotland. Keep up the cracking reviews.

I understand and appreciate your testing methodology like testing out in the driveway away from the access point and with obstructions in the house in the way. A huge feature of Asus is AiMesh. You can easily improve your coverage by adding in a mesh node. Create a mesh network using many Asus routers using AiMesh. Mix and match for what you want. Even use your old ASUS routers. I have 4 routers in an AiMesh for my 2 story house. I easily cover my house, driveway (as I have a Wi-Fi-connected sensor on my mailbox), and most of my 2 acres with Wi-Fi coverage. Adding a node can be a little finicky, but once you do it is all gravy.

I have to agree. The DumaOS I had on my Netgear XR500 was the selling point for me, and it worked great until the router stopped receiving a signal just short of two years of use. I upgraded to the Netgear XR1000 with DumaOS 3.0, and good lord the amount of stuff you can do with it.

Just a heads up. Netgear provide buyers a 3 month of free customer service and 1 year of hardware warranty. However to get an access of that 1 year warranty, you must purchase a service plan with them which can cost $70-$300 (if your 3 month of customer service is expired). If you do purchase the service and then send it to them for repair. They will verify if their is any issue. If there isn't , you wasted $ and if there is an issue, they send you a refurbished one that doesn't have warranty (repurchase another service if this one breaks again). The fact that you need to buy a additional service plan just to get access of the 1 year hardware warranty (base on the day you originally bought it) defeats the purpose of the device life span.

On point succinct conclusions and explanations. I'm trying to find either a router and a modem or a router modem combo that will increase my speed and lower my latency of my wifi for specifically for use with my Oculus Quest 2. Xfinity (Comcast) is my only choice as a provider and they cant seem to increase my speed with consistency (after numerous visits) and blame it all on the limitations and speed capabilities of my devices. I am using their provided Gateway (modem router combo currently the XB6 and have had the XB7). Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
@avilesjexiel

Don't get a Modem/router combo. I highly recommend that you buy them both separately like I have. You will get much better performance this way, also what kind of speeds are you paying for? If a gig or not buy the netgear cable modem just the cable modem. And if you can afford it buy yourself the netgear nighthawk as well like the one in this video. If you can't afford so you can just go for a lower model.

Thanks for the reviews. A trouble spot with WiFi routers (in my opinion) is auto secure updates and longevity. Routers are increasingly under attack and auto updates is a good step to mitigate if disaster strikes. I’m just curious why you chose the Netgear RAX200 as a “gaming” router, when Netgear doesn’t even market it as such? Their actual gaming routers, in the XR series, are specifically designed for gaming using Duma OS, which incorporates gaming specific features like geofencing that restrict you from connecting to online servers with high ping. I would have loved to see the performance of the wifi 6 Netgear XR1000 compared to the ASUS Rapture

@@ChrisMajestic I understand that, and I didn’t mean for my question to sound rude, so I sincerely hope you didn’t take it that way. This is one of the best real world tests I’ve seen anyone do comparing high end routers.I do realize that the Netgear you tested is their flagship wifi 6 model, I was just saying that it’s not touted by Netgear as a gaming specific router like the XR series are, and some of the others you tested as well. It obviously performed very well, but like I said I was just wishing I could have seen how the XR1000 stacks up to the ASUS Rapture as well. I have the XR1000, and it has left a little to be desired IMO, and I’ve been considering the ASUS, so I definitely appreciated getting to see it in action

Like I've told you, I love my Asus GT-AX11000 for gaming. Handles so many devices. Great Mesh abilities especially with older Asus RT (AC) units and using them as mesh nodes.

Hi Chris I’m curious, my family and I have well over 40+ items that connect to the internet, and I was wondering can the ASUS ROG RAPTURE AX11000 handle all of them with no issue and also can the Nighthawk. Thanks

I'm a little bit confused. You're saying that this review includes the Netgear NightHawk RAX200 which houses a Broadcom chipset. But in the router's Firmware User Interface @ 10:41 it shows that you're using a Netgear Nighthawk RAX120 which houses a Qualcomm chipset. They are different routers with different performance metrics. E.g. Rax120 has the option of the 5g port that the RAX200 doesn't. The RAX200 only has 2.5g port. RAX120 is dual band while the RAX200 is triband. Both also have different CPU clock speeds as well. But overall, good work with the video review comparisons.

Need the AX86 in this mixup.... Many tech personalities on youtube swear by it. Also, you gotta check those nose hairs before a shoot.

Very insightful and helpful video. I still have my eyes on tge seriex x, and I wanna make sure I get a router that has quality and that cost effective as well. I was told by a Best Buy worker that anything in the Nighthawk series will do, but this video is more in depth!!😁💯

Chris, how about a video on the best mesh systems. It is well and good to do do testing on individual routers, but mesh is increasingly important in order to distribute access throughout our homes.

Do you have a best Wired Router review? WiFi is nice and all, but what about connecting multiple components to the router directly via Ethernet? Or even daisy-chaining some routers for even more components in further locations?

First of all, I dig your house, congratulations! Next, we are purchasing a 2,200sq ft home in a month, do your results change at all on your wifi mesh video, if you are hardwiring? Im going 6 ip cameras 5 tv locations 3 pcs Patch panel, switch and rack, i just want wireless basically for my wifes laptop, outside, and cell phones. Will any of the mesh devices be ok, or do I need something different altogether??
