God bless Emily, God Damn heroin... I was visiting a friend in NV. back in 85 & we went to see Emily play at The Four Queens hotel with Larry Coryell . What a humbling experience for one that started guitar at 11 back in 1967. It was an inspiration more than now i want to burn my guitar & at that time i saw her i was & am a Rock & Blues player with some fusion in there but i love Jazz & what we saw that evening was jaw dropping good. We miss Emily & Larry for their awesome playing & huge inspiration to anyone that heard either of them let alone together. Amazing musical geniuses. Also was lucky to see her play in 82 .

I know what she means about her room, I struggled, got laid off and spent 6 months in my room learning every scale possible on my bass. And since I play all those scales plus what I've learned out side that room, that room was in 1974. Emily is one super amazing player and hope to jam with her when my time comes. I only wished that she was still here with us.

I often come and listen to this beautiful piece of music. Emily was so gifted and to watch her so immersed in her music is quite inspirational.

I first heard her on a BBC radio broadcast as I was falling asleep one night c.Feb 84. They played one track and I thought it was just OK [my mistake]. Thank goodness for YT which can preserve her work, even allows us to view her playing at close quarters and show us just how great she was.

I've never heard this before but what a great tune it is, played impeccably by Emily. It's sad to think what she might have achieved had she not died so young. However, her legacy and place in the music world is assured.

I agree she was overlooked by listeners but never by guitar players especially those who got introduced to her either through Mags like Guitar Player or by friends that knew who & how great she was . I saw her & Larry Coryell in 1985 & was hooked by the end of her first number. Like i said it was a friend that took me to see that show in NV. We miss them both.

I love her guitar playing and, after studying the lessons she gave joel turnoff, I can tell she was also a good person. But I suspect the hard work and torture she described did a lot to get her to the level where could have this kind of fun.

Hate to tell you the bad news even though your comment is 3 years old . Emily was never lost up till the time she chose to start using heroin . She passed in 1990 from abuse of heroin & probably other opiate use. . The world of guitar lost a giant talent.

Not really a Guitar Man... Your second stupid comment on her dress, man you will never be as good as she was & I've heard the stuff on your channel .So So would be a fine description . Might it be you would rather be wearing Emily's dress than saying stupid things like this. Your comment is lame & the fact you used it before shows a total lack of respect & a huge amount of jealousy . I pity fools like you but it's really not worth the effort. Bring on your stupid reply .

@@TheophilusBoone It's the part of YT most of us hate , they can't comment on anything with style just stupidity. This fool i would say does not play guitar as what real player in their right mind would be so cruel & idiotic. Very hard to be jealous when the only thing you can play is with yourself & i do believe this guy can only do that.
