Bravery is a great virtue which this officer by virtue of his background and upbringing had. Indian military officers should come from villages of India and wards of its loyal soldiers. His story is inspiring and also revealing about inherent weaknesses of military organisation of that time - primarily its selection of hierarchy of officers who did not care about its brave soldiers. I salute this Army officer for being an example to futre generations of Army men . I also pray that all schools should encourage and inculcate nationalistic and down to earth and tolerant attitudes in their pupil as his school did which he has rightly recognised. Great son of soil. A real HERO and a gentleman.

Serving in glacier is very tough even today but in 1984 our clothing was not of good quality. I as a air veteran salute all bravehearts whoever has served in that tough terrain.terrain.
