If it's one thing that Apple can do, it's their attention to detail. I've got an Apple Watch and everything about it oozes detail and polish. The UI is also surprisingly fluid for a first gen product. Though, I wouldn't say it is a must-buy but if you're looking for a smartwatch, I'd definitely go with the Apple Watch.

I have the Gear S and its pretty cool, a "Apple Fan girl" friend of mine has the Iwatch. The screen and the overall "feel" of her device is much more PRISTINE in my opinion. I like the aesthetics of my Gear and it's bigger, but unfortunately i think the Iwatch is probably a tad bit better overall.

The fact you can 'call forward' your calls and notifications to the Samsung Gear S. .. so u can leave your phone at home, makes it far more useful. But there are more apps for the Apple Watch i think.

And games r optimised for the watch, so u can play them, much like games are often simpler to control on a smartphone. The games on the Gear S are actually quite challenging and kinda more fun because they r simplified... kinda like how old computer games were.

I've owned gear S for a few months now. I love it. I linked it and my Note3 to a moto hint Bluetooth. I use it stand alone, or like others I forward calls from my note. Recently used it at the beach. Didn't worry about the sand or surf. It works great. I'm not going to trash apple..it's just marketing. Everyone thinks apple, just like everyone calls diapers pampers when huggies is a better product. Samsung too is clearly a better product. But I do love watching people struggle to read the screen of an apple watch let alone text.. which I notice he left out of the video.

GUYS...stop fighting over which "smartwatch" is better 😉 In my opinion? I think that everyone should just go with whatever they think suits them the most. I have both watches. I've had the Samsung for about 4 months now and the Apple Watch literally a day. They both are good in their own right, but I run hardware heavy on both watches and my gear runs out before the day ends and I rarely get any notifications or anything versus the Apple Watch this far. There are things the Apple Watch can't do that the gear can and vice versa, but I'm a fence rider which is why I have two of both products lol

VIVExMadness The Gear S is a confused device. It wants to be your phone and be your watch. The Apple, while not having its own carrier, can make and receive phone calls. It is a stupid feature however what the Apple Watch does is better simply because you dont have to manage another line with your carrier. The Apple watch also does everythin any Android Wear device can do and then some thanks to the App Store.

Costomer satisfaction on apple products are high. iOS apps and the OS is more secured than android os and the apps. it's simple to use. UI is very responsive. Apple makes BIG profits. iphone, ipads, ipods get security and improvements updates on time. unlike samsung, still waiting for marshmallow. android apps are not optimized, octoacore processors and 4gbs of ram are still struggling... yup, samsung wins on anything. iphone with dual core processor and 2gb of ram competing with these "powerful" phones.

I've had the gear s since release date Nov 15 or so if I'm not mistaken, it's been great it is durable , I work in construction and wear it to work every day, most of the time i answer the calls on it and works great speaker is very loud and can be heard clearly even on my noysy work enviroment, so far no scratches at all even though I bump it everywhere the screen is flawless although it has a screen protector, battery life is a constant good two and a half days and can last up to a full week on low power mode, screen is awesome bright enough on direct sunlight and text is very very sharp, although I have a sim card in it it does not require it to be fully useful sans making calls on its own but other than that almost every feature is useful without the sim ,I keep that sim phone number only for my wife and kids no one else besides them knows it so that is cool to me, os is always fast and fluid, one of the many features I like the most is that if it gets far 30' or so it will lock itself up and so it will my note 3 so no curious eyes on my stuff, very very satisfied with my purchase I will send this to my brother and get a new one for my self, I definitely do recommend it.

I use Gear S with my own simcard in it (voice + data) and this thing is a breeze to handle calls, gps with turn to turn voice direction, wifi, bluetooth a2dp (yes i stream music directly to my car speakers), opera web browser and all txt through S voice (surprisingly very accurate). I almost forget i have a note 4 sitting at home now. So an Apple watch or any "smart" watch that needs the handset next to you is kind of a big joke !

I have a blue Apple watch sport that is 42 mm and it mountains over anything good about the gear s. Apple adds a sense of customizable and personnel touches and they use great materials. It has much fines and the hardware and software are astounding. If you are going to get one of these watches I recommend the apple watch.⌚️

Disappointing that there was no mention of the fact the Gear S has a built in 3G/2.5G radio and can work as a standalone for calls and texts. Also the mention that the screen is harder to read outdoors, I have my Gear S set to auto brightness and have no trouble reading it in bright sunshine. Regarding it having better battery life due to the fact the Apple watch probably records steps and heart rate etc more often. I have my Gear S recording my steps all the time. Recording heart rate several times a day and also monitoring my sleep. I manage 2 days on average before it needs charging again. This video did seem to be biased towards the Apple Watch

I don't think these watches should be compared too much. Although they are both watches, and have several similar features, they where made for different uses. The apple watch is made to be more of a gadget for your phone, give you health feedback (make you live more healthy), and as apple said themselves, not to squish up a phone and strap it ob your wrist, but to make your life easier. The gear s is something different. It is made to replace your phone and is exactly what Apple didn't want to do. The patient should choose themselves, what use is more helpful to them

great video. Excellent key points on both products. I have a Gear S. I enjoy the fact that I have really longevity with the battery. Although I really like the actual charging dock for the apple watch. I am happy with my smart watch. I do really think the Apple watch is beautiful too.

I'm a stickler for details, but the smartwatch battery test graph was inaccurate. Likely a mistake, but the bar for the apple watch was less than half that of the samsung yet the time was quite a bit more than half. Visually inflates the difference.

Reviewers have been canning Samsung and Android watches for only having one and a half or two days battery life. The Apple watch only scrapes 10 hours but suddenly, that's OK. By the way, the ability to make standalone phone calls with the Gear S is not overkill, it's fantastic. I make calls on mine all the time - and no, you don't have to hold it up to your face to do so.

Eli Stanfield No you don't. Maybe it's because I live in Norway, but I have a twin SIM card in mine so the watch and the phone have the same number. Calls and texts come to both and I choose which one I want to use, or I can just use the watch when my phone is turned off. The extra SIM costs me the equivalent of $4 a month.

I agree. Call forwarding is the single most important feature on in what is supposed to be a phone companion. It is a feature I use everyday. You don't need a extra contract that is just companies trying to cash in. Just get a extra sim that cam make free calls to the same network.

Georg Holdar agreed, the apple watch is not even as close to good. He talks about how the gear s is not as good, but don't forget the processor, the screen, the fact that straps aren't hundreds of dollars, not to forget that the gaer s doesnt need to be near your phone at all times. Why the hell would anyone buy the apple watch to exercise with if you have to bring your phone running.

One thing that you totally forgot for doing a tech review is talking about the functions that the smartwatches have in comparison. While the apple watch tries to be all fancy with the apple app store and many apps, the samusung gear S was designed to have a webbrowser in the gear. It is the only smartwatch that has an efficient to use webbrowser --> if you want that for a watch then get the gear S. the gear S definitely beats the apple watch. I bought a samsung gear 2 last year and the gear S this year. All that I miss for the gear S that the gear 2 had is the camera, but maybe the next version will have one again. overall samsung has way more experience in the technical aspects of the smartwatch and apple is more about the prestige

The stand alone feature of the Gear S is critical for jogging. I can leave my phone at home. The Gear S provides streaming music I listen to via bluetooth headset, distance measurement, heart rate monitoring, and of course texting or phone calls.

Yup this guy is an apple fan. Didn't mention the UV sensor on GearS plus having all your calls forwarded to your watch no matter where you leave phone as long as it was on. Lots of other features he didn't mention on the S.

Great video! I would buy the Samsung Galaxy Gear S. I just prefer Samsung to Apple. However, the Apple Watch seems pretty cool!
