Had a 16 Pro loaded up in my Verizon cart to upgrade my iPhone 12, figured I would check one more time to see if it was worth it. After watching this video, it seems pretty clear upgrading is not worth it (even though it's only going to cost me $4 extra a month with my trade in and special). Thank you sir.

I would still recommend GeForce Now Ultimate for gaming on the mac. Costs a monthly fee, but the performance you get is unbeatable. Especially if you connect a 4k 120hz display via HDMI 2.1, you can even use Gsync and have really solid latency.

30+fps is playable, 60+fps is good and competitive- its base console power, 120+ is ideal

Stay calm and wait for the Mac Studio with the M4 Max or Ultra. With that, 4K or 5K gaming via Crossover will also be achievable.

Just ordered an 14" M4 Pro coming from base model M2 Air (8GB/256GB). My workflow isn't that demanding but the 8GB has become an annoyance whenever I do something more intensive. Was thinking of M3 air 16gb/512gb, but it would be kind of a too boring upgrade and I like the SD card-slot (for photography) and the hdmi-out (for presentations). Also minor thing: usb-c charging from both sides of the laptop. It's my main and only computer which I use for work, so saving a few hunderd over the years doesn't really make a difference. 24GB RAM feels pretty future proof as well.

@@thejailbreakchannel I went for the regular display as the laptop was way cheaper on Amazon than at the Apple store, but Amazon didn't offer the nano texture option. I haven't seen nanotexture in person and I work with text alot so I was also a bit hesitant because of that.

You made a point about SSD speeds being better but it's not because M4 pro is faster, it's because apple loves to put a single 256 gig chips to handle all the tasks on base models, if you take a 512 gig base model the speeds would be equal because both 256 gig chips are working in parallel and it makes the transfer speed twice as fast. Also dlss is Nvidia chip exclusive feature if I recall correctly, you can use the AMD equivalent on all GPUs.

I question the hardware/ tvs these videos users are using, because my games look night and day. Its not even close, my tvs unlocked 120 VRR 4k and it makes a huge difference. Still have my ps5 on a 60fps

Eventually, I think launching games on Mac will become a more regular part of publisher release strategies, as the ease of doing so increases. May not become a serious force for a while though unless Apple decides to do a huge marketing campaign for Mac gaming.

Soon be jumping the "shark" and buying a M series Mac although my 2017 27" iMac is running great. Looks like the Mac Mini M4 Pro is my best option for performance. Thought about a Mac Studio, but they start off at $2k for a M2 chip...nope. I price compared a base Mac Mini vs the same spec 24" iMac and was shocked that you end up paying $900 for that 24" screen...heck no !!

One is a desktop and the other is a portable laptop. That alone should be the deciding factor.

@ yeah it should, but having an iPad in between makes it more debatable. As well as is a keyboard, screen and battery worth that much more and the overall utility of a MacBook.
