The easiest and most simple solution to this is to have a reserve for yourself. Buy in bulk, get the 1,000 round box. (Usually cheaper to buy in bulk anyway) Store it in a sealed ammo container with moisture absorbant packets. Lock it up or throw it in the closet and never touch it. Boom. Problem solved. Now you'll always have an emergency reserve supply. If you only have 50-100 rounds for your firearm in the first place, you're doing it wrong. You're the person scrambling to the store like a last minute louis to grab something you should of already had long ago. 1,000 rounds of 9mm is only like $230-$250. If you can't afford that at the moment, some stores have 500 round boxes of 9mm for $127.99.

The last U.S. antimony mine was closed in 2001. Environmental and economic reasons were cited. There is still antimony in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and Nevada. Nitrocellulose is made by several companies in the United States. It's made with cellulose, the most abundant organic compound on earth, reacted with nitric and sulfuric acids. Seems to me we should be able to mitigate the damage caused by the Chinese embargo. We might even learn a lesson about having to rely on potentially hostile powers for strategic requirements.

The components of nitrocellulose are available in the USA. Cellulose from trees or cotton is abundant. Sulphuric and nitric acid are both made in this country in quantity. China's is cheap is why they sell so much. Our manufacturing plants have been closed for years but the government will modernize and reopen them or hire someone to do it.
