Going 40mph when he should have been idling or at most 15-20 is crazy. When that fog hits you can't see 5 ft in front of the boat and it throws your depth perception completely out of whack. It's great he doesn't blame his buddy but his buddy is at fault. He was driving recklessly. You can run a red light by accident you but if you're driving 40mph in dense fog that's not an accident. That's negligence

Listening to him, I had major flashbacks. I was in an automobile accident. I was stopped at a stop sign, got rear-ended and it pushed me in front of an 18 wheeler. I broke every bone in both my legs, including both femoral necks in my hips. I live in Kilgore, Texas. I woke up in Parkland hospital six days later, no memory of any of it. In my legs, both femors, tibias, and fibias were all compound fractures. In my right leg, the knee area, when the bones popped out, they also broke off. So I went to the hospital with no bones in my right knee. They wound up putting donated bone in, and put a rod in from my hip, down to my ankle. So I don't have a knee, and can't bend my leg. I still fish, have a boat, and go by myself a lot. I just can't stand and fish because of my balance.

Love your content. Always genuine and informative. Growing up in south La I've been on FOG in the Mississippi Delta that I almost couldn't see an arm length ahead of us. Terrifying. The thing I don't hear anyone talking about is the trend you've covered of having multiple 12" and bigger screens at the helm and on the bow and how it absolutely blocks visibility. Not only that, but fisherman are looking down at the screens while driving more and more. Fishermen with one or more giant screens in front of him while driving a 70MPH bass boat is a recipe for disaster. Throw in 100 boat college tourneys with young anglers behind the wheel and it makes me not want to be on water. Please consider doing a follow up to this video about the danger of this trend.

Fog is no joke, on land or water. Was on a powerboat poker run up on Lake Michigan, never been there before, we all start to roll out around 8:30-9:00 in the morning, cloudy and overcast conditions, I was around 6th or 7th to pull out and didn’t make it a hundred yards under idol throttles and out of nowhere this fog rolls in, it was so heavy and thick I couldn’t see my navigation light and I was driving my 42ft Fountain! Talk about worried about getting hit from any direction, everyone did just sit on idol in neutral. Radios don’t help if you can’t see 8ft in front of yourself. A blackout is one thing a white out is a different story! Glad this guy survived and lived to tell about it! Wishing him and his family the most well wishes and best of luck!

Before GPS and mapping I put in the fog and was going to idle down the bank and get into a marina and wait it out. Lost the bank and made a complete circle back to the ramp. It's amazing how disorienting fog can be. Even with GPS doesn't stop you from hitting another boat.
@johna99044 ай бұрын
I foolishly idled into the fog once on Clearlake. figured id idle across to my buddies place, no graph, 30 minutes later idling I ended up on the other side and couldn't recognize anything. then I saw a rock pillar dock and realized I had done a complete circle and had come back to near where I started. I heard a smaller boat doing circles out there and then he would kill it, then turn it back on and then kill it. I had to use the trolling motor and hug the shore for a quarter mile back to the dock it was that bad. you could see the end of the dock posts and that was it, no house, nothing. complete whiteout.
