My only problem with Wimbledon coverage is when they suddenly decide to move the programmes scheduled for BBC1 over to BBC2 whilst *at the same time* , moving the BBC2 programmes into BBC1. Even when they're *both* Wimbledon coverage. It's totally nuts.

I work on a mental health ward. The patients have a communal television with Freeview. They are unhappy that they cannot find their soaps. They do not have access to non-linear television.

Roland Garros this year in France is more difficult to watch too, morning in France 4 channel 14, afternoon between France 2 channel 2 and France 3 channel 3, switch every 2 hours and the night on Amazon Prime Video Pay per View and France 4 channel 14.

As someone who very much enjoys watching **all** the election coverage live (and precisely nothing else that’s mentioned anywhere in this video), it is a little irritating to see it jumping channels like that for other content that really should just always be on designated BBC Sports channels rather than needlessly interrupting other programming. (It’s also been annoying in previous years when programmes have shifted channels whilst we’ve been on holiday with no way to set our TV box to record it on its new temporary home!)

Hey, kind of on and off totally blind viewer here, having first found you during my TV ident phase in the mid 2010s. I can definitely see the upsides of streaming TV, I use iPlayer and Channel4 from time to time. But I really don't think linear should die out completely. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have access to the internet, especially now when everything costs a bomb. And I hate ITV for what they did to CITV, not just because of nostalgia, but because the idea of children's entertainment being locked behind paywalls and other such restrictions just doesn't sit well with me on a moral level.

When in the mornings BBC2 is simulcast with the news channel and afternoon is mainly repeats it would make much more sense making BBC2 the Wimbledon channel so people know all coverage is on BBC2. That way it doesn’t have to this stupid switching about. In previous years the red button used to allow you to select your court. People who make these decisions also need to remember that not everyone has strong enough internet for iplayer whereas the red button is via the tv. I think the scheduling also shows how little care is given about the channels anymore. The BBC focuses far more on iplayer. Yes the number of viewers is increasing on iplayer but 70% of viewers are still accessed the bbc through their tv and they’re now getting less attention and care

I got clickbaited by a video that's clearly not for me. I couldn't care less about live TV. Especially while it's locked behind the archaic license model. I moved on from live TV a few years back and haven't really looked back. Most stuff would be watched on demand anyway. KZbin has replaced lazy casual viewing. The country is generally slow to adapt and move with the times. Certainly slow to leave the old behind. I don't miss live TV. I don't know why anybody who isn't a sports fan should and even then there are other ways to catch your events live.

Based on Freeview, I don't see any problem. ITV can use it's 5 channels. BBC has 3 channels until 7pm and then an extra 2 channels. At a push, the BBC could even use the UKTV channels.

Thankfully with The Euros, Glastonbury, General Election and Wimbledon it would be nice to see different schedules on BBC1 and BBC2, and for the Euros and General Election on ITV1. However one criticism is that maybe Wimbledon should be on all day from 11AM to 10PM on BBC1 when the Euros is not on and move the news to BBC2 just for the two weeks in between Wimbledon being shown on BBC2 and on the iplayer for the rest of the time and showing different courts on the iplayer. It would make sense to have most of the BBC1 Schedule moved to BBC2 while Wimbledon is on. Also at the end of July and beginning of August the same will be applying for The Olympic Games, where it should be completely on BBC1 and the Red Button for the two weeks and move most of the BBC1 Schedule to BBC2 for the two and a half weeks of sport.

BBC 2 English regions can't opt out for their news programmes. Only Northern Ireland and Wales can opt on BBC TWO.

The TV Magazine thing has been going on every time when a major tournament has gone on which I remember back in 1990s when they had the World Cup in Italy in 1990 when I did see two listings in case of certain things like which matches and hell even extra time and pens.

The fact is big Wimbledon matches outrate a lot of/all regular programming and Wimbledon has been on BBC TV since 1937 so in that respect has been part of the schedules since long before any soap opera etc. Also if I remember correctly Neighbours was taken off air for Wimbledon fortnight in order to help prevent the UK catching up with Australia.

Its fascinating how some aspects of BBC corporate culture continue for decades and decades eg love of tennis, dislike of motor sport, and the detirmination that 'important' things (ie tennis) must be on BBC1 not BBC2. This made sense in the 60s when BBC2 was only on the new-fangled 625 line TV which not everyone had, but makes no sense in the modern day world where everyone has 100 channels!

You stick a big tennis match on BBC 1 it will still get significantly bigger ratings than if it was on BBC 2. According to marina hyde on the rest is entertainment the football is divvied up between the networks in the sense of ITV choose: 1st semi final pick BBC choose: 1st england game And repeat until all games are divvied up So guessing thats why the knockouts arent set up yet as they know who gets first pick but not what games

Basically the BBC will get the quarter final and ITV will get the round of 16 and semi final (assuming England make it that far). Basically for each tournament they tend to alternate who gets first dibs so you'd expect this to reverse for the world cup, but obviously other factors come into play e.g. likelihood of England going deep into the tournament and kick off times.

I will say I’m one of those that don’t mind change in general. I do understand why people don’t like change in some parts but I feel if you don’t have changes to anything then some people will get bored after a while and you would lose the interest of a certain programme or genre.

I have to say that I find those that complain about changes to the regular scheduled to be selfish. TV is meant to be there for everyone (especially the BBC). Those regular programmes are on all the time, especially soaps (which I do enjoy) which are on several times a week for the whole year. I get not everyone likes football, tennis, the Olympics etc - but by the same token, not everyone likes Eastenders, the Chase or the one millionth repeat of Bargain Hunt. Yes, it's inconvenient to you, but you get what you want most of the times. Let others have what they want too once in a while

With Euro 2024 there is a split of games for each round: For the Round of 16 (29 June-2 July) ITV have first pick For the Quarter Finals (5-6 July) BBC have first pick For the Semi Finals (9-10 July) ITV have first pick They won’t be able to confirm the picks for the Last 16 until the Group Stage finishes on Wednesday as until then they won’t know the full lineup of matches

The BBC and itv share the home nations between them for the group stages and the knockouts. With Scotland sadly knocked out only England are definitely guaranteed into the knockout stages. Both BBC 1 and itv show the final

I will be recording several tv channels on election night. BBC South, ITV London, Channel 4 North(they are all on the same satellite transponder), Sky News SD, CNN Int HD, Bloomberg, and GB News. Not sure yet what to record on my 4th satellite tuner, either France 24 Eng or Euronews or CNBC, can't do all three as they are on different transponders.

Not forgetting that the BBC will be covering the General Election for S4C, with coverage beginning at 21:55 and going through until 4 am, they will be broadcasting from Central Square, like BBC One Wales (but on a different set). Then the following day S4C has coverage of the Tour De France, which they have been covering for a while now, Sunset and Vine normally produces the coverage for that.

With the majority of the nation having the internet or an internet enabled device, I prefer the idea of pop-up channels for Euros, Wimbledon, Olympics, Election etc. Leave the normal standard channels 'as it'.

Euro match generally takes 90 minutes. The election is covered overnight, and Wimbledon is in the afternoon, with many viewers watching certain players, like Emma Raducanu, for example. And Wimbledon has always been on BBC1 and BBC2! So, like most KZbinrs, to keep your viewers you have to go over top and pretend there is chaos!

UEFA is based outside the UK so Euros should not be on the A list and Sky should be allowed to bid for these rights the only matches for Euros and World Cup (Mens and Womens) that should be live on terrestrial TV A list Live Coverage are the opening match, all games involving UK Home Nations (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales in their respective countries) If Qualified, Semi Finals and the Final, All other matches to be on the B list highlights and Delayed Coverage

Here's the solution every two years let Sky sports OR TNT Sports show Wimbledon every euros and World cup. And the BBC show Wimbledon every odd year.
