I will admit I got so focused on trying to generate a tucking engine, I missed out on some key pieces to my puzzle! I will also admit, I thought the terns were tucking cards so an immediate error on my part! It's good to watch it back with the insight though!

Great game! For end of R3 I think I would've played Swan instead of Rufous Owl. Because you had Swan and Hornbill for Diet Specialist, you didn't need the Owl and could've spent less food for the Warbler in the forest instead. In the end it didn't matter since you had that extra seed for the Swan

I was thinking the same thing. It would have allowed an extra turn laying eggs for 9 points, so it would have squeezed out 2 extra points vs playing the Rufous Owl.

You were right about your 19 point Hornbill sounding too good to be true. 17+5 is 22 not 25, so it's a 16 point play accounting for the eggs.

Have not seen a full food start in my games, even less when it's justified. Haven't played around enough to know if it's easier with Oceania. Great score though!

When I saw the title I assumed there was a Killdeer in the starting tray (granted I'm not sure what the house rules are and if they prevent a round 1 Killdeer as well) but nope just a really good grasslands engine coming together with your first few seen birds partly aided by an opponent who didn't focus on blocking (which tbf if you are more used to large games as opposed to 1 v 1 would be the natural inclination, especially in digital where you need to specifically remember to check the new birds)

New house rules only prohibit R1 Kildeer and Franklin's gull on base boards. R1 ravens still banned on all board types.
