I used to have a 99 TJ with the 4.0 in it, but the previous owners didn't take care of it (trips to the beach with no washing...). Your rebuild series has really tugged at my heart strings to get another TJ. I've been looking around for another just like it, but can't seem to find any half doors. Keep up the awesome work, and I'm glad to have found your channel for when I do get another one.

Got to the premiere late, then the boss came around the corner so I had to minimize the video and didn't see the end. Ha! Now I'm watching the entire video. I could look at clean 4.0's all day...and the 4.2's!

Put a cloth rag in the throttle intake, to keep small screws from falling in. I've know of two engines that were destroyed by a small screw... No kidding. When time to start, free crack engine without spark plugs. No jam ups.. time to start..Yeah !!

Good tip there Dale as far as starting the bolts for the exhaust/intake manifold 👍
@JeepSolid5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. That can be a pain

I know this video is months old but was just thinking how much the old rusty bolts might eventually transfer rust to the engine, getting ready to put my 4.0 back in and have been thinking about this, wonder if I should paint the bolt heads at least.?

The closing hat throw at the end was a little weak, but other than that great video! JK. This series in cool and I'm glad we have the red YJ to look forward to.

Thanks Mike. yeah, kinda a weak throw. Haha!

I haven't had a chance to watch all the videos yet. I'm rebuilding the 4.0 in my TJ. Which engine paint did you use? prep for it?

Dale what's those iron man engine mounts
@BroncoSolid5 жыл бұрын
They're called Brown Dog Motor Mounts, www.browndogindustries.com

Going through my own 4.0 rebuild following all your videos, they're a lifesaver. Do you think it would have been easier to install the manifolds prior to dropping the engine in?
@off-roadprojectsandfun68684 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if you saw but your power steering pulley was cracked while you were putting it on.
@TheJurassicJunkie5 жыл бұрын
Can you show how your exhaust is connecting to your new manifold? I have what looks like the same one, and it seems to be not correct.

I think that's coming in a future video. I think...

Installed my new 4.0 in my 96 ZJ. Is it me or is the engine supposed to sit tilted back towards the firewall? I put new motor mounts in so I was wondering if maybe because they're new the front of the engine is a little higher now. Did you have that same problem or could it be the transmission mount needing to be changed?
@JeepSolid5 жыл бұрын
The motor naturally sits at an angle. Firewall side lower.
@sincitydude72965 жыл бұрын
@@JeepSolid okay cool cuz I thought maybe I did something wrong. This is my first engine swap so any and all advice is welcome. Think I'm going to replace that transmission mount anyways cuz it's all greasy and over 20 years old. Thanks!

1:57 What is that red driver you are using and is it a impact, also how do you like it?
@JeepSolid5 жыл бұрын
It's a Milwaukee 3/8" driver. The more I'm using it, the more I like it. Makes quick work of things. I think I linked the one I have in this videos description.
@BroncoSolid5 жыл бұрын
I have the exact one, too, and I love it

Awesome I have been looking into getting one like yours but I like real world feedback from real people that use it. Thanks
@Jim_woods5 жыл бұрын
Looks like it's not impact tho
@JeepSolid5 жыл бұрын
It only works to 35 ft #, so don't expect it to break nuts loose. You can use it manually to break nuts loose, then power wrench them off. Works quick.
