Wonderful haul. I remember back in the 60s going to a once a year sale at a nice dept store. They had a large oval jewelry case where their items were displayed. On this day the sample trays were piled completely around that case 3 and 4 deep. Mother and me and about a jillion other women circled around that case from left to right in an ever moving circle jockeying for position and grabbing everything we could. What wonderful jewelry we came home with. Great memory of time with my mother.

It never ceases to amaze me observing the craftsmanship from so many years ago. Their work was so intricate and fascinatingly well done with fewer tools. I can certainly see why you would go to a sale like that and spend so much time and money. It's so once in a lifetime to meet a collector like him. I'm thoroughly enjoying this haul. Thanks, Dawn.

Growing up in Alaska I only knew about gold (including gold nuggets & jewelry made from the nugget look) silver, ivory & jade (really Jadite). So I never took a look at costume jewelry & we did have any place to physically shop. It was mostly catalog dreams & homemade clothes (my mom) & fine jewelry.

Dawn,,,,,,,,get you a large bottle of Electrolyts water!....Carry in your bag when you shop! Also, put a small box of Ziplock baggies and a felt tip pen. I know, you don't want to stop searching, and I am the same way. I will not take the time to drink or eat when I am on a roll. You looked weathered in this video and can't think straight. Hi Dawn, omg, what a wonderful sale, I would have been salivating. I found my very first Kenneth Jay Lane brooch. It’s beautiful 😍. You mentioned that the butterfly necklace was tarnished. Do you have any way of restoring the color. I’m playing with some gold markers on a vintage bracelet, so far the results are not great. Do you know of any way of making faded jewelry looking better?
@HUDSONVINTAGE2 жыл бұрын
I am going to replace a stone that was there. I do try and stay away from those~ I think they are toxic and would not want it on the skin. I have used a tiny tiny bit of rub and buff on the tops of things, not in contact with skin.

I know this is an old video, so you probably won’t see this, but i have to tell you my mouth dropped wide open when you pulled out that big chunky gold bracelet that had 18K 750 on the marking, and you said you thought that was a lie. Did you ever find out more about that? I’m asking because my dad gave me one exactly like it in the early 1970s, with the same markings, and I’ve always wondered if it’s real gold. It’s so funny I should come across this video today cause I just had that bracelet out to see if it had any markings. I’ll add that my dad was a seaman and probably purchased it in Pakistan or somewhere around that area. He brought several pieces home that day, most of them very intricate silver, and of course I still have them all.

@@HUDSONVINTAGE thank you so very much for responding! How disappointing it’s not gold though, but I had my suspicions, in spite of the promising markings.
