In general minor keys make songs more depressing and major keys make songs more energetic. However it's more of a trend then a rule and there are plenty of exception so in theory your correct but it does ultimately depend on the song.

@@commissargeko4029 it's more that minor makes them darker. There's a video I'd seen that talked about modes as well, and that some modes are darker than others. The more interesting (but vastly more time-consuming) question would be: what does the piece sound like in different modes?

I played Danny Boy with my school orchestra back in high school, and I always wondered what a properly produced minor version would sound like. I remember I wrote an arrangement for it and absolutely loved it, but I didn't have the confidence to ask my conductor to try it out with the class. This makes me happy :)

This honestly brings me to my childhood. Listening to this song on my MP3 Player I used to have before losing it. I had that and a few other songs that I can't remember the names of. This version just makes the song cooler than it already was. I love both the original and your version and I thank you for singing one of my childhood songs that I loved as a kid. It's an underappreciated song that should be shown to more people because of how amazing it is. I even had it as a scale in band one year and I got overly excited about it too. 😂
