The last surviving bat. The others had been picked off one by one in the invasion. The invaders a hivemind like species go to a planet pick a spot kill and take all organic matter there to bring back to the mother ship which houses the queen and then continue to pick another spot to kill and take from till the planet is dry of resources in which they move to the next planet First Bruce and Damien, they had been the first to respond to the threat, infiltrating the mothership, communications started scrambling as soon as they got close to the ship, undeterred even after Oracles warning they entered. After 1 hour of the time the two were supposed to either find a way to communicate, or exit the ship to group back up. The two were assumed dead. Cass and Dick were next, then Steph. By the time Barbie was found out and communications where completely cut it was just Jason, Tim and Duke. All three teamed up suppressing their grief and made a plan. Tim had made something like an EMP that would distract the invaders for a little while due to some frequency. Unfortunately with the time crunch Tim could only make it to have to manually be operated and with the device gaining mass attention from the swarm this lead to it being a suicide mission. Duke was assigned that task to distract the swarm while Jason will rigs the mothership to blow. Tim was looking through an ancient looking book, he said it was important with a desperate and determined look. While the plan went Jason infiltrated the empty ship to find its main power source to rig. Duke using his powers dragged out as much time as he could, but with the numbers against him quickly lost the battle, leaving the swarm to disperse. With Jason not done yet, Tim sent a message to Jason and ran to the EMP which was now alone surrounded by crumbling buildings and blood. Activating the EMP again Tim help out as long as he could to give Jason time Hopping his plan will work. Jason, done with his mission; set it to blow. Returning to their damaged base Jason the book. The book, the ancient thing it was, had rituals of all types, but the bookmarked page, bookmarked by the note had a ritual of sacrificing a life for another. A life was needed to sacrifice to bring another back, but there was more to the cost, the person who did the ritual would give up their afterlife completely leading no chance of return. Jason smirked as he made the correct symbols, the book didnt say the sacrifice needed to be in the circle, just that it needed to be sacrificed. With the bombs on the ship there was plenty of lives to bring back at least some if not all of Gotham. Done with the prep he started chanting, hive mostly done with Gotham and its surrounding areas all started to enter the ship to leave, some stragglers left to pick off any scraps. At the pinnacle of chanting Jason pushed the button that activated the bombs, the symbols drawn now glowing a blood red, a chill ran through Jason as emptiness started in his chest. No longer needing to chant the glow grew brighter and the emptiness grew, Jason stepped out to see the ruins of Gotham and the brilliant flames in the sky causing chunks of metal to fall like meteors. Walking out into the open and breathing in the smoke and dust of the air, Jason looked out as the stragglers starting to swarm around him. With guns in his hands he fought, and after explosions, gunshots, clashes of blades and a war cries settled down Jason was the only one left standing. Feeling Accomplished he finally relaxed, the ritual should take a bit to revive everyone due to simply the amounts being a lot, sacrifice and the people getting revived. But everyone he loves should come back safe and sound. Just then a squish sound out as Jason looks down at his stomach, or rather what should have been there as the arm of one of the dying Invaders reaches back out leaving a gapping whole in Jason's torso collapsing with its final breath knowing it took its enemy down with it. Jason, exhausted and bleeding out watches as he collapse into the ruins watching the embers twinkle like stars and knows that this is it. There is no coming back from this, this time. Letting his memories of his entire life and undead life swim across his eyes he feels ... okay with this. He did things his way and he is satisfied with that.
