How did you choose head gasket size? Were you going for a specific static compression ratio?
@EverythingEngines
@EverythingEngines Жыл бұрын
Tbh I went with a thicker one just so I lessened the risk of tearing one but now thinking about it I might put a thinner one back on
@Deucealive75

@@EverythingEngines Make sure you have around .030" in between the piston and head. For example, if the piston is right at the deck at TDC then use a .030" copper or .036" head gasket. If it's .020" in the hole then use a .010" gasket. If it's .003-.005" in the hole then use a .027" head gasket. The thicker gasket is safe but with a small compression loss. No big deal at all.

@@Deucealive75 ok thanks my only hesitation with a thinner gasket is cause I was worried about piston to valve clearance

For future reference you don’t need to tighten down the head bolts like you did man. I hand tighten them and never had an issue brother.

I had one of them come loose even after I tightened them recently and blew a head gasket so thanks but I’m going to torque mine
