JD, Thanks again for the GREAT review of one of our locks. Also, as you always do, thanks for pointing out that locks are essentially still for honest people and that with the right tools no lock is "bullet proof" but the greater the deterrents the more likely thieves are to go elsewhere. Just a note, when you find the need of a good vice or grinder, you can take a bench model bolt it to a 2 x 12 then secure the 2 x 12 to the bench with 2 heavy duty clamps. I do this all the time with my 2 x 12, 12ft. Picnic table when the wood shop is to hot. Hope this helps. Mark Waco

I use a cheap tongue lock that can be bought at the big box stores. It really is for my peace of mind. I'm not a thief but I do own a battery powered angle grinder just for working on my boat or travel trailer at the storage yard. With a 4ah battery, it can do just about anything a corded model can do. As for the batteries on my boat (3 of them) and the one battery on my trailer, I removed them and place them on a battery tenders in my home garage. If I need a 12vdc battery at the storage yard, I take a small backup to use. Yes, the storage yard is in a sketchy part of town.

4-1/2” grinder + cutting wheel. Slice off the ends of the hinge pin... gone in 60 secs. Or just wrap the chains around the ball and secure with a pin.

The more obstacles for deterring theives ,the better. Coupler lock, pin lock, wheel boot (like parking wars TV show) cable lock linked through rim's, and GPS system enabled. However, if someone wants in they can take a stihl quik cut gas powered machine to cut a door entry through the side wall of the enclosed trailer. Or hire a rotator crane & flat deck unit . 😑

that shape is super easy to wrap a chain around. I'd just wrap chains around the head and drag it where I can angle grind that off. Itll take me less than a min to pull to chain up and drive away with it.

This looks great, but I'd also like to see better locks for the hitch pin and the receiver pin. Even better if they could be keyed the same as the abloy puck lock. The Reese kit is ok, but I'm sure Ft. Knox could do better.

Even with a battery disconnect switch, there is enough of a ground from the trailer frame that when switched off, my Tire Minder transmitter still is able to draw power from the battery!

The batteries in the tire minders themselves will go dead no matter what. If the positive is disconnected from your battery there is no way you will ever kill the battery with something drawing from the cargo\camper trailer. Electricity is a two way street... Maybe you just have a bad battery or need to do maintenance on it?...

I am looking for a good lock for my trailer and I watched this video and I would not use that Fort Knox lock. The very y 1st thing I saw on it that I thought could be easily compromised was the hinge. There was 2 hinges pieces that could Just be cut with a is a cutting wheel..

Nice lock system and ton better than just a regular lock but I see some small gaps where a rod or pry bar might can get in to start twisting the lock.Is there any feedback from people who have bought these on any theft attempts and have they been tested for such attempts?

Can you give us a video with your review or thoughts about camper covers? Unfortunately I have to store my trailer outside in the winter. Here in Northern Illinois it can be brutally cold. I've Been Told that camper covers may not be a good idea because it traps the moisture inside and doesn't let the camper breathe? Makes sense that this could be bad over time? Your thoughts?

Wouldn't make much of a difference because even if you cut the entire hinge off, you still could open it without cutting the lock off.

Engineering 101 Never drill a hole through the top of an A Frame , from the side if you really must ..that A frame is now forever compromised reason they have everything attached with clamps and u bolts also if those bolts are ever overtighted causing even a micro crease it will buckel all the weight bearing is from the top.

Likes the table and trash can set up! ****As a couple comments below have mentioned, Angle grinders & I agree on $ price! FORT KNOX made A big FLAW in respect to angle grinders. They should have built it with HINGE on the inside and design it so hinge is underneath or toward trailer to make more difficult to access with a grinder. ......So $300 bucks for a lock with hinge expose like that is a dead NO for me, .......NOT VERY SMART ON FORT KNOX, AMERICAN MADE. .......JUST SAYING, fron a southern Alabama boy. Oh the guy mentioning 8 hr day has a point! @ $50/hr that's $320 something everyone in this country needs to think about. We here in the U.S. are really being screwed by over pricing their products. I'm a Mechanical engineering draftsman by trade and worked also in R&D dept.. Back in late 80s company I worked for now owned by Robert Bosch, we made a 7 bit Forstner set for CRAFTSMAN, our cost here in Al. was $24 back in late 1980's, SEARS cost was $35, Sears sold for $149.99 but usually the price was $129.99-139.99 $100-120 dollar above cost ..........today CHINA probably makes it for U.S. companies for $5-$10 bucks maybe less .......Do you think for one minute companies will sell it cheaper? If you have the tools to cut the hinge off you have the tools to attack the lock box itself, point is if you have the proper tools there isn't a lock in the universe you cant defeat, in other news water is wet
