This level isn’t tough but the crate placement at the boat section and water section at the end is just terrible game design. I don’t think they understand the people who are 100% it have to keep restarting the level over and over again after you die once or miss a box that you aren’t allowed to go back and grab. Not to mention the long loading screen each time you restart.

Mokey Mokey Guy I don’t think it would feel that bad, if it didn’t take several minutes to get back to where you were. Especially because of the long load times of this level in particular. When it comes to the typical “rage game”, and I’m not really gonna call ANY Crash game a rage game, but when it comes to the typical rage inducing game, usually there’s a way to get right back to where you started. The time trials at least have that. When I’m playing a level with about 100 crates in it, restarting is no problem, but anything past 300, is usually a long level, and one I would hate to do over again at that!

God forbid someone has a disability that makes second perfect timing nearly impossible.... this game could really use a assist mode like Celeste ( Celeste is equally as difficult but I can slow down timing puzzles in particular and dark souls I can take my time and prepare) I 100 percent every crash game on the ps1 but doing a flawless no death run here not to mention having to redo it over again for inverted where it even harder to see everything as the box’s blend into the background. not to mention relics where they changed boxes to hazard and you need to have a flawless run. Is just stupid. I got literally everything up to this point... but this level might be the end of my 100 percent run..as I stopped having fun 60 deaths ago..but I’m also to stubborn to give up...

Man, I like the core game well enough, but I'm officially done trying to 100% the boxes. These devs do not know what a proper "secret" is supposed to be. You've gotta give SOME indication for observant players to think an area's worth investigating (the "dud" Nitro boxes in Crash 2 that were arranged suspiciously into a staircase is a perfect example of something being just "off" enough to poke around with). It shouldn't be, "Keep jumping to your death at every corner and hope you land on a secret." How did they get so much else right and that part so wrong?

@@imkingmailru I'm sure the more observant people did. I blew right by it, so I didnt notice it. My main complaint is the levels don't seem to tell you if there's a colored gem in it on the map. The warp rooms in 2 and 3 at least told you there was a colored gem in the level, 4 doesn't, you just need to be observant I guess. The red, blue, and green gems all have clues, but they are easy to miss.

Also levels are too long, too hard, you need to repeat them multiple times to collect everything (gems, perfect, inverted gems)... it's really ridiculus and i haven't say anything about the infinite times you die to retry for the perfect. And i got another bug. The final box count doesnt count 2-3 boxes in the end even if you actually get them all. You have to not kill the first creature carrying the nitro box at the beginning. Then when you get the first checkpoint your box total will automatically add a few boxes that didnt even exist or whatever. Its so weird. Was so hard getting perfect on this.

This level has broken me. I'm not even trying to get the perfect relic, I'm just trying to get the boxes, and I can't get past the food cart bit with Crash. Those double jumps off the dynamite at the end, I never have time to do them and land back on the platform. I've been trying for over an hour just repeating that section over and over. It's ridiculously frustrating. Up to this point, I had no real issues getting all the boxes (following the guides because screw the hidden boxes). Even run it bayou I got through without too much trouble. But this level is just stupid.

I started this game late, and I just refuse to move onto the next level until I get the perfect relic. I just completed the first snow level so I’m at 19. Anyway, I found this stage to be more frustrating than Run it Bayou as well. Don’t get me wrong, the beginning of Run it Bayou is tricky at first... but the box placement in this level on the food boat part was really frustrating at the end. When Maka says Run it Bayou is the hardest level in the game in his opinion, does he mean up until that point, or literally the entire game? 🤔

Finally got the perfect relic !!! 2 days of wash rinse and repeat grinding but I got it.....the very last section of the stage were your on the motor board thing. Go down backwards and hold down the boost button and steadily tap the d-pad left or right. There's been about 3 or 4 times these last 2 days were I've got through the barge roof bit perfect and then missed the 1st or 4th box going down the waterfall and had to restart all over again and then suck at the barge roof part again.

So I am very late to the party; but If there is anyone here watching and for some reason you keep missing 1-2 boxes like myself, it is because there's a bug in the very beginning of crashes run with the 2 boxes to the left. They don't get counted after the checkpoint If you break them too fast. I advise you go up the steps, break those crates FIRST and then come back and break those boxes. It should fix the bug 6:54

Combated to Run It Bayou, this level was (relatively) easy. It only took me 2 hours to get the N. Sanely perfect relic instead of the 4 it took then. It’s still a pain in my ASS though. I took the long way to plat this game for sure, I first beat the game, then beat it on inverted, then went for all the gems on normal and inverted, and now I'm doing all the perfect relics and then the time trials. I think doing it this way has helped me become a lot more comfortable with the game though because I haven't had to restart any level so far more than 6-8 times for the perfect relic. Quick tip guys, when you get the to first Crash section, guy in vid recommends not sliding, and for the first places when you have to be low, that's absolutely correct but when you get to the thin ones, sliding and double jumping is absolutely key to get some of the extremely high boxes. No Dillo Dallying is the most awesome name for a level I've ever heard. It sounds a lot like "No Dingodiling" plus in Italian a crocodile is a "coccodrillo" (rhymes with "armadillo") while an armadillo is, well, armadillo, so there are two Dillos in one level.

It is miserable. I expected difficulty. I've played previous Crash games. But this just isn't fun. Replay extremely long level wit unfair crate placements 25-30 times. Finally 100% the level. Move onto next extremely long level with unfair crate placements. I'm finding no time to actually take a second and enjoy the game. I know 100% is optional. So it's also my fault for focusing so much on it. But man, Toys for Bob. Would it have killed you folks to inject even a minimum amount of fun into your game?

Raiden I played the original trilogy including Stormy Ascent and none of them had levels as infuriating to 100% complete as some of Crash 4’s. Their thought is that anyone who points out obvious flaws in level or game design is simply bad at games. To them, games are above criticism and any frustration is due to the players lack of skill. IMO, Crash 4 is a slog. The levels are too long and the crate and gem placement too cryptic. It isnt a matter of getting better at the game. I can persevere and 100% these levels. But that still won't make them good levels.

I missed 4 right at the start, before he gets on the boat, he grabs 4 boxes level with the platform with the vacuum. No idea those were there lol, kept missing 4 too.

Never felt so cheated with a game than this. It’s like the devs just threw it a ton of random boxes to make it hard without considering if it was actually still fun to play. With other crash games there was certainly a challenge but felt I’d earned it when I finally got a gem or Crystal. CB4 just ends up being endless repeats until you get some dumb luck

I hit the checkpoint before getting the other boxes right before it. If you die on the jetboard section, remember to go back & get them! Same thing happened to me.

So I got through the entire level with all boxes but one. 501/502. Where you take control of Crash again you have two boxes on the right and I only had one. 😭

dude same thing happen in this level. I had 466 boxes at the end just like you.. but when I triggered the nitro switch I had 501/502... i don't get it... it must a bug or something

I was 2 short at the end and what I figured out was that when the level switches from dingo to crash it never spawned the 2 boxes on the right side of the dock were you start off. If this happens and you die and restart at the dock they still dont spawn you have to literally restart the entire level.

On the Nintendo Switch version, I've got every box, yet my box count is always bugged. Only ever get 132 at the first checkpoint, sometimes give or take one. Always finish the level with 4 boxes or so missing, even though I didn't miss any. Only got every box once in N. Verted mode. Can't figure out how to fix the glitch. And it's not the 2 boxes at the start of the Crash section that people say are bugged. No matter what, I just can't get 136 at the first section. It's frustrating.

Its so weird how different levels are harder or easier for different people. I struggled with Rush Hour because it was so damn long and has a hard part right at the very end. This level is easy with one medium difficulty sequence with crash riding the boat. But its so short its not a problem.

There’s an easier way to get the river boat to move if you just jump and hover around the nitro wall and land on the dock, you can trigger the enemy to shoot the wall of nitro for you. And then your just good to go

There’s a error that happens, sometimes the mask box where the gunners are sometimes don’t appear. It happened on the inverted version

EOUASIDHAIDBA I DID IT! Didn't even lose a mask. Took about 90+ mins of practice, mostly the truck section that can bug out, or you can slide into or out of the screen, resulting in a slide that goes nowhere. Protip for the final section of the truck segment: duck, let the truck take you under the obstacle and then jump on to the dbl TNT, bounce (hold jump), then dbl jump for the box. If you slide under that obstacle before this you risk blowing up the TNT and that's an instant fail. So yeah, you've way more time than you'd think to do the final part.

I like this level, but collecting all those crates at the boat section is a PAIN and requires some good reflexes and precise inputs for sure. I'm doing a second playthrough of the game and just skipping the gem collecting on some of the harder levels :P What I've noticed is that the game is actually pretty slow paced because of all the hidden crates you have to be on the lookout all the time.

You know what.. in comparison to Run It Bayou it actually wasn't that bad. However, on the final jump on the boat section my jump would glitch and I would stay crouched even when In the open. E.g I would jump, but it's a jump crouch whilst the motion is still in crouch so it couldn't transform into the double jump.
