Great Dan! and I am sure you guys put in a ton of time over the years to get this going. Over here our biggest problem has always been the folks that think working on this one hour a week is going to get them what they want, as you know that's not the case and its a long road but worth it every step of the way if you are prepared to put in, have a great one and happy holidays to all.

🚨Hey friends… We recently created "The Producer Files" to provide producer-songwriters with business strategies from the trenches, in-depth classes (not on KZbin), and interviews where producers share how they make a living. It's all 100% free. You can learn more here: rb.gy/wybbxr

I want to do something like this. It’s hard because I’m a one man band combining my music and film services. If you had to start over from scratch today, how would you go about it? I’m just in the setup stage so I would like to talk to you about this if possible, thanks
@darklabelmusic5 жыл бұрын
Hey Jack - got your app and we can talk more about this on your call, for sure. It's fine that you're a one man show - most are. I was too for the first 1.5 years of my business. Because my job is to help other producers do this I technically do go through the process of "starting from scratch today" everyday, lol. Just for other people. Process is the same - just the platforms are different. We still have to create a brand, a good offer, and figure out a way to get it in front of people. Those are the foundations for business since the beginning of time. Chat with ya soon.

I love this video. I feel like I am good at my craft and have worked with well known artist. However, I don’t want to just stick with trying to get the big artist. I need some direction on creating an actual business model that will stand out. From the millions of producers doing the same

super inspiring any advice for a 19 year old music producer ?
@darklabelmusic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Went to your channel... You're onto something. Cool stuff. Advice for a 19 year old producer. Don't feel like you need to jump into business right away. You can if you want to, but don't feel like you need to. It's a different thing when it's your "job". Have fun with it and just keep developing your thing. Like I said, you're onto something. Continue refining it. I was 24 before I was able to start making a living with it. Get in the room with as many people as possible... Artists, producers, etc. A lot of the younger producers sit in their rooms by themselves producing and throwing stuff on IG. Always be meeting new people. In person if you can, but at the least online. Get on skype. Face to face. Write with artists. Collaborate with other creators. There are a ton of producers who can sell a few beats online, but the moment you put em in the room with an artist they don't know what to do. And final piece would be... Never launder your reputation doing corny shit at the start for a quick buck. Your reputation has to last a lifetime if you decide to pursue this as a career.

@@darklabelmusic amazing advice 🥽🌊

This explains structure (for you) and some planning on business models, but its' really just your story. I'd like some ways to get started. Unless you're just going to say "well, you have to write your own music" lol
@darklabelmusic Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. Happy to offer some advice, but I don't understand what you're asking. The more specific the question, the better answers you'll get from people. What are ways to start is not specific enough. I don't know what you're trying to start.

how much did you make the first year?
@darklabelmusic2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Eclipse. I would have to look but I think the first full-time year (when it was just me and no team) would have been somewhere in the $40k-$50k range. However, I spent YEARS before going between part time and full time while having other corporate jobs.

The business I am referring to in this video was a music production company. Getting paid a production fee to produce songs for artists, brands, and labels. Much of it remotely (online).
