Hello Friends!
I used a broken washing machine motor to make a belt sander.
【Part.2】
• Make a Belt sander @Wa...
The plan is here
jisaku-koubou....
【Plan List】
jsk-koubou.sto...
The washing machine motor consumes 300W.
I want a little more power, but there is no problem in practical use.
The drawback is that continuous operation can not be performed.
The cooling was strengthened, but the motor temperature exceeds 90 ° C in about 8 minutes.
(The motor temperature will reach 120 ° C in about 10 minutes.)
I attached a temperature sensor to the motor and decided to use it while monitoring the temperature.

This genius craftsman has elevated his work to the level of art. Watching him work is like seeing an athlete or musician perform at the highest levels. There is no better choreographed and platonic videos anywhere at this level of artistry hands down. The gentle approach and his mastery makes all materials obey his wishes whatever they may be, wood, metal, plastics or electrical. He rules all of the basic materials and his precise technique makes watching his videos practically a soothing therapy in a rushed and often chaotic world. Total awe and respect for JSK-koubou.

Just be carefull as some soldering irons tend to melt and destroy the heat shrink. Personally I like a gas powered one as you can remove the tip and have just the hot air blowing on the shrink.

Nice build and great construction quality! I would have used the fan with a small 12V supply to force much more air into the sander housing, instead of attaching it to the motor axle, where it cannot be as effective. Also, the radiator you glued to the motor housing probably cannot do much - large thermal resistance between the aluminium fins and the motor housing - you cool the aluminium but not the motor. Anyway, I'm very curious to see the belt sander part attached

When I watched the first part , I was convinced, that must be a German worker , but later on , I realized that's Japanese way of getting job done. So , after watching another video, "Making belt sander out of old fan " , I've understood, why I'm driving my Toyota 1997 with over 300000 miles on it, without problems. On the other hand, tool are made for making money, so , when the Japanese guy spends two weeks to have the job done , the guy with fan motor had it done within two hours and the money he made for the rest of these two weeks let him buy additional six tools. This is not creating sculpture, so it must look beautiful. It must be done fast and good enough to start making money.

well... it is what it is. But how many of you have noticed a few things about this video? Probably not too many... I see many comments from guys wanting to make their own shop machines now using the method as prescribed here. But you need to take a few things into account. These builds, for all their wonder and precision... they are NOT CHEAP. Despite his efforts to make you believe otherwise, he has invested large sums of money into the builds themselves. while he might be getting the motors for free, or close to it, he has to pay for everything else. The hand drill he uses... that's a high end and expensive drill. The homemade drill? Same there... the drill he used to make his homemade drill press is a very expensive model. Despite his effort to disguise the drills, the make and model are easy to figure out. The expensive router bits... And then we have the body for this particular build. Did you happen to notice the type of wood he's using? No? That is a commercial grade and very expensive high density plywood made for fine woodworking. That stuff isn't cheap. The amount of money he invested into hardware, glue and wood runs into the hundreds of dollars. And then the amount of time he spent on the build. By the end of this build, you can bet he invested enough money and time to be able to afford 2 brand new commercially built combination sanders. I'm not disputing his build... his work is really good. Not perfect nor immaculate... but his accuracy is very good and the quality of his craftsmanship is indisputable. I'm disputing his approach to make you believe that anybody can do what he does. That's not true. Not everybody has the amount of time on their hands as he obviously does... Not everyone has the money to invest into the products he's buying and using. And most certainly, not everyone has the engineering skills and education he possesses. While it seems good on paper, it really isn't because of the amounts of time and money it takes to create one of his builds. NOT CHEAP!!! You would be better off buying a brand new in the box versions of his builds and you could probably buy it cheaper than what he spent on making this sander and the other shop tools that he creates. This is a hobbyist's thing, and a hobbyist with money and time to spare... But it is NOT practical nor is it very affordable. I enjoyed watching his craftsmanship. But I'm also acutely aware of the practicality and economic applicability of such a project. It's not economic. Fun? Perhaps, if you have extra scratch and time... Nice video, but I won't watch the followup and final build.

Great project but those are cold solder joints. You should twist and then heat the whole joint (both wires) before running your solder. You may wind up with a short from a dry joint someday. Very creative work though. You would be a monster if you learned to weld for your projects.

Another really creative project! I suspect that if someone used a salvaged motor from a full-sized European or North American washing machine, the temperature issue wouldn't be so much of a problem. The overall design could easily be adapted to a more powerful motor. Thank you for this. It's always interesting watching your innovative home made tool designs. Looking forward to Part 2.

@michaelcherry8952
@michaelcherry8952 5 жыл бұрын
@@yewsengcheong1637 The motor that he used in the project is smaller than the motor from a full-sized European or North American washing machine, so it needs to work harder in order to operate continuously to drive the sanding belt. A larger motor would be able to handle the load better without overheating. It is a minor issue, since he has already partly compensated by creating a heat sink and fan to cool the motor he is using but he still notes that 10 minutes of continuous operation would result in a motor temperature of 120 degrees C. This kind of overheating would seriously shorten the life of the motor. As long as you are aware of this and use the belt sander for only short periods of continuous operation (preferably under 8 minutes) there shouldn't be a problem, but a larger motor would be one solution. Given how creative he is, I wouldn't be surprised if he came up with a more efficient method of cooling the motor (possibly using the heater core out of a Toyota! :-) ).
