This just inspired me to make my own candles. Going to your site now to pick up all my supplies!

After this awesome video, I cannot ever see myself going to the store and buying a candle again. Especially a cotton wick candle. I would much rather take the time and make my own candle whereas I know what wax was used, I have choice of what scent I want to have, and the sight and sound of the wooden wick burning. Everything I need is here from this company on their website ... everything !!! With more selections, choices and combinations than I can imagine. The Innovator behind this company is light years ahead of all others !!! Thank you so much !!!

The first time I made my first candle was 7 years ago. I got a kit for Christmas. Our whole family spent the day, each making our own candle. It was a wonderful., fun , and relazing aternoon. We all had a great time and everyone got a candle to curn.

Hey! So, curious before I get started - how do you typically go about cleaning your pouring pitcher after use?

This was a fantastic video tutorial! Thank you for sharing the exact wax used, the vessel and size wick! My first attempt at candle making was using your supplies (except for the vessel) and it was an utter fail. Wick purchased was way too big for the vessel and couldn't get a good hot throw. Now that I have this video I will def try again! Keep up the awesome videos ❤

Okay so what size is the vessel and what size wick were those I have been experimenting with different size vessels and wicks and I just can't get it together so can I know the size of the vessels that you used and the size of the wicks?
@makesyofficial3 жыл бұрын
Hi Candace! The vessel size of our aura's are Size: 3.75" w x 4.1" h. As for the wicks, this can depend on the size of your vessel and the wax you're using :) We kindly ask that you check out our wick selection guide for some help on choosing the correct wicks woodenwick.com/pages/wick-selection-guide? selection guide

Ok so I’ve watched this video like 4 times and I don’t understand to what exact temp did you heat the wax to or what’s the highest temperature this particular wax can be heated to. I understand the mix and pour temp 180-190, however the minute you add the FO it’s going to drop the temperature way below 190! So my question is what temperature do I heat the wax to, and what’s the ideal pouring temperature? Thanks
@makesyofficial Жыл бұрын
Great question. It really depends on your ambient room temperature. For rooms that remain 70 degrees+ you can head to 190 and then mix and pour between the 180-190 very easily. In colder climates you may want to heat your wax to 195 or 200 and then let it drop to 190 before pouring your fragrance in. To maintain the temp on a double boiler, you can turn the heat off and mix your fragrance in while the pot is still in the hot water once it's reached the temperature. If using a wax melter, you can try keeping your pouring pitcher wrapped in towel to hold the heat in longer while mixing before pouring :)

Should i put the fragrance oil at 180F or 135F? I tot i need to cool down the candle. So it will not make the fragrance gone.
@makesyofficial2 жыл бұрын
180% is what we recommend :) Just be sure to check your fragrance flash point to ensure your mixing at least 5 degrees under its flash point!

I would have rather seen a clear glass jar or something clear to see the glass adhesion, but soy has really good glass adhesion anyways so yeah. Cool video.

You mentioned that the vessel used in this video is an 8oz. vessel and uses 8oz. of wax. Does that take into account the 1oz. of fragrance you used?
@makesyofficial2 жыл бұрын
No! It would be a total of 9 oz of liquid with the fragrance making it a 9 oz total.

Hello, can you please tell if it's possibile to combine pure 100 percent natural essential oils with scent oils? Thanks for an intresting video. Greetings from Poland
@makesyofficial2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! Just be mindful that essential oils have much higher flash points and may smell differently when burned so it's important to burn test!
@anniereich37242 жыл бұрын
Does anyone know the average burn time for the aura 12oz vessels?
@makesyofficial2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! A 12oz candle should give you about 60 hours of burn time.
@fredziffle52192 жыл бұрын
We like to burn candles to get rid of cooking scents because food smells aren’t pleasant anymore after dinner but we apparently bought candles with soy blend that included paraffin or other chemicals because our furnace filter had soot on it. I hope the trend is moving away from all chemicals.
@makesyofficial2 жыл бұрын
It sounds like your candle was burning too hot which is what produces the soot, not the wax. The National Candle Association has completed studies showing that Paraffin burns just as cleanly as Soy. candles.org/research-studies/

What is the soy wax blended with to make it a “soy wax blend?” You didn’t address that in the video. The soy wax I have is 100% pure. Should I mix it with something (what?) to make a better candle?
@makesyofficial2 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan! Our soy blends are made from a proprietary combo of coconut, soy, and highly refined food grade paraffin. You can learn more about it here! makesy.com/products/virgin-coconut-soy-1?variant=39257279758490

I’ve had a lot of issues with the wick not staying lit brightly or it needing to be relit. Do you know why this might be happening or constant tunneling? It never seems to burn evenly
@makesyofficial5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tesia! It sounds like your wick isn't thick enough for your wax type. Are you using 100% Soy?

The Wooden Wick Co. yes I am. Should I add a non crackling wick or like a popsicle stick ? I’m not too sure
@makesyofficial5 жыл бұрын
@@tayysaran Thank you for that information! 100% Soy always requires a very thick wick to create an adequate flame height. I suggest using our Crackling Booster Wick .04 - this wick is designed for soy wax and will help your issues with low flame / extinguishing. Ok. 11oz vessel. Am I doing my scent math on 11oz or 10oz. If I do on 11oz that will overflow my vessel.

If the vessel is 11 oz youre going to want to put only 10oz in the candle, if you’re going for a 10% fragrance load put 1 oz of fragrance in each candle
