You made this seem so trivial and matter of fact, but I know that it is in fact really hard to pull off for everything to look right; and you nailed it! I reckon Briggs and Stratton themselves would've been happy to have used this as a promotional back in the day. Top job fella!

Nearly every bit of plumbing I know I learned from a cutaway done by Richard Trethewey on this old house. They are great display pieces.

Same thought here too! As a added benefit you could use it to test those pesky ignition coils, always a PITA to accurately test.

You know as cheap as the predators are it would be great to cut one of them up for comparison. I remember wishing we had OHV ‘s in the 80’s running go karts. Awesome Job Road King!

Cutting the flywheel as to preserve the ignition was a great touch. Even at cranking RPM the piston was blurred. I still can't wrap my mind around how engines (especially racing) operate with any power at all at 7-8000 RPM. Everything happens so fast!

Good little project, maybe with a slow electric motor to turn the engine slowly, might be able to see thing's a bit better, great job, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones

Thank you Donald!! I agree with you, I've always enjoyed watching the ones that move by themselves!! It would probably draw more attention also!! I've been looking for a lil' low RPM motor, something we could put a speed adjustment on!!☻

@805ROADKING you might find something you like in a gear reduction motor over at Skylab Surplus. Make up a PWM controller or a pre-built ESC and you'd be the hit of the shows.

That's pretty neat, but without the rings, you'll never develop any compression. I bet the kids will have a blast!!

Everett, This is one reason subscribers like you so much. You are very interested in people learning. So this is a very EDU MA CATIONAL Tool. Briggs like the Model T Ford engine SIMPLICITY of design and is easy to work on.

Try heating piston rings in the closed position so you can also have rings on the piston.

that is a great job, it shows how everything works, I doubt if I could have done nearly as good on this project. by the way, it's not only kids that don't have an idea as to how these engines work.

I bet if you poured fuel in it , the engine would start right up, that's how good the Briggs engines are 😃
