That's too much work. I always found that the rubber vacuum blanket for making a diy professional exposure unit was extremely expensive until I found an outdoor pool company that practically gives away rubber pool lining material remnants. It's dark gray like tire inner tube rubber and perfect for pulling a very tight vacuum. You just staple it around your wooden vacuum frame. It doesn't even have to be tight. Check it out.
