Danny, I made your two wisker antenna with a reflector as an experment. I have property near the town of Montgomery, Tx., which, according to the FCC website, is almost 60 miles @ 165 to 166 deg to all the transmission towers in our area, all located South of Houston. I mounted the antenna on top of an awning I have covering my travel trailer. Made a scanned and got 92 channels. This is more than I had hoped far, including two major Houston channels, 11 & 13, which are VHS, with excellent signal signal strenth. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.

Thank you Danny for saving my wife's Thanksgiving Day Parade. A few days ago something happened and we lost all tv signal. I tried my old big outdoor antenna that was special made for our city before everything went digital and I got nothing. I tried another small indoor antenna we inherited. Nothing. I bought the RCA booster - nothing. I made this mini antenna Thanksgiving morning whith what I had laying around. Using a 3' scrap of 2x4, the heavy 6 gauge wire from a political sign for 2 whiskers and a piece of aluminum expanded metal gutter guard for a reflector. We picked up 24 channels from the towers about 30 miles away. I hooked the RCA back up and it jumped to 32 channels. All is good to watch our favorite Thanksgiving Day Shows. I will put a bigger reflector on tomorrow. I may use the grill from an old bbq grill. Lol. Thank you again Mr. Danny. Im not on FB. Wished I could talk to you in person. To all, Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Danny's technology really works. Take the time to watch this link to the end. You'll be thankful that you did. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3zRmqxueKh-ndU

Hey Danny, I built one of these without the reflector, stuck it in my attic for a FM antenna, for my stereo receiver. Not only does it peg every station, it is pegging stations I didn't know existed!

Mr. Hodges, does it make a difference when pulling in signals with what type of metal one uses when building a reflector? Clear coated or painted or just plain galvanize?

1) What is the USB Tv Turner do you use for your computer? 2) What is the reflector made from? What type of metal and where did you get it? 3) The copper to the screws. What kind of db loss is there with different types of metals? 4) Is that PVC that you have the copper screwed onto? 5) The copper whiskers. Why did you go with 20"? Is longer better or can it be 10" or 30" copper whiskers?

Do you sell this particular antenna?... I bought a ematic outside antenna. It does ok, but the it fell and broke a couple of pieces off of the front. Tried to fix it with aluminum foil... but it doesn't work as good. I been watching your video's. I can most likely make one. But I had a stroke 2 yrs ago, so somethings are a bit difficult to do... I like to do a multi directional... Theres some channels I like from one direction... and some from another... but there are on the edge of each other... I just cant get them all... I live in Hendersonville NC...

Thank you for you videos. I built an antenna very similar to your Ultimate for my deer camp in southern Arkansas. We can pick up over 20 stations, mostly from Little Rock, but a few Louisiana ones too. While standing on the roof adjusting the antenna my body was acting as a reflector for the Louisiana stations, but when I came down they were gone. This prompted me to build a dual array with reflectors, one pointed to Little Rock and another pointed to Louisiana. My questions are what is the correct angle on the whiskers and how long should they be? Currently they are 9 inches long at about 30 to 35 degrees of bend. Thanks again.

Hey Danny love your videos. I built an antenna but from watching a different tutorial. It works ok but I'm in a bad location I guess, we have a hill right in the direction the signal is coming from so it's hard to get any channels. We can't have the antenna outside because of the HOA regulations where we live either. I've tried using an indoor antenna but we cannot get a signal because our walls and attic are lined with a metal insulator. So we've resulted to getting a Roku for our TV which works well but we don't get local channels. Anyways, a while back I had asked if you would do a video on the difference between using copper wire versus coat hanger for the antenna wire. Since then I have tried both and the coat hanger worked better versus the copper wire. I'm kind of curious if I could straighten the hanger wire with your method you use the straighten the copper wire. I wonder even though I don't use an antenna anymore if you could still do a video on the 2 differences between the two of copper wire versus coat hanger wire? Thanks in advance.

Part of our problem is hills,we have a tv station close by,as in less than 10 miles. The problem is we have some good sized hills that can interfear with the signal. I was planning on buying one of those antennas and still might,at least if it dont work,I can take it back. If I build my own,it may be cheap, but if it dont work then I wasted my time. If the store bought one works, then I can bring it back, get a refund and build my own. Smart huh? I wish you would have given lenghths and dimentions. For the screen you showed,I am going to use an old florescent light fixture cage, the kind that prevents the bulbs from getting broke. I can get those for free. The copper wire might be an issue. I think I will be hitting the resale building places for all my materials except the part that goes to the cable. I should be able to do it for pennys on the dollar. Great video.

I made this one after watching your video. I stripped some 10ga. Romex that I had here and added a reflector from some leftover garden fence. I bent it in my sheet metal brake like you do. I temporarily mounted it to a 10 foot copper pipe that I had for a test. I got 9 channels right away. I call it my DAN-tenna. Thank you Danny for all the knowledge that you share. I'm going to build the Ultimate DAN-tenna next. Pictures here....facebook.com/pharrand/media_set?set=a.10211359238480830.1073741854.1357253627&type=3&pnref=story

I about got into a fight with a satellite dish installer that worked unsuccessfully for 2 hours trying to get a signal through a tree. After arguing with me about being able to get a signal through a tree he got mad and left. He said that he was going to get his boss to come out tomorrow and figure out why he couldn't get a signal. As soon as he left I moved the dish to the opposite end of the house where it had no tree blockage. Low and behold I got a signal. After programming in all stations I called the satellite company and told them not to ever send that idiot to my house again. I also told them that the dish was working fine after I moved it. Yes. A tree or anything else for that matter will interfere with a signal either from an antenna or satellite.

As far as I understand it, unless the reflector is just a solid metal plate without holes, then the distance between the wires actually matters otherwise the radiation can simply pass through the holes. What that distance should be or how it is calculated is another story. Hopefully Danny can explain that in a future video
