This looks great! You made it seem so attainable, I'll definitely be giving it a go. I'm in the ideation part of making my own bomber jacket. I want to use lambskin and want an oversized look similar to the Nanushka Hide puffer jacket. Did you use a pattern for this? If so, would you be able to share the maker with us? Do you know any pattern makers who have cool/young/edgy designs? Everything I find seems to be for a more mature woman.

Thank you!!! I looked up the Nanushka Hide and it’s so cute! I actually self-draft all my patterns. I’m working on developing patterns to sell but it’s going to take a lot of time with drafting, testing and all that goes into pattern making before I can bring them to market. I’m going to look up some good patterns and get back to you!

really great job!!!!🔥🔥 how did you learn how to make clothes?
@shay_made

Thank you!!😊 I started by refashioning and resizing thrift store clothes. Then learned to trace clothes that I already had to create patterns. Lots of watching video tutorials, google, practice and trial and error too!

This is awesome! I'm just getting into clothes making and I have the urge to make unique pieces, with like funky fabrics, but seeing how much time goes into a piece like this it would be a shame if it felt too funky to wear often or just a bit strange in a year or two. How do you approach the decision between creativity and wearability/utility?
@shay_made
@shay_made 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you!!😊 I have a lot of projects I want to make with funky fabrics but I know I won't wear those pieces as much as more casual/neutral pieces. So I'll usually only make something out of funky fabric if I know, or at least think, I'm really going to love it. If I make a couple things I end up not loving I consider either selling that piece, or repurposing it (i.e. turning it into pillowcases, bags, etc). As you said time, and money for the materials, goes into each project and I want a return on my investment by making things I know I'll wear often but I definitely don't ignore my urges to sew up some creative pieces if it fits into my sewing budget.

Hi! I self-drafted this pattern. But I did go and look up puffer coat patterns to try to see if I could find anything similar to my puffer and the most similar pattern I could find was one I found on Etsy by Vikisews called Nurit straight oversized coat pattern with pdf tutorial size M-L. It has 5 stars and good reviews too! So I hope this helps!!
