Thank you for this amazing texture. I’ve been trying to apply it to a singular face on the model but the texture is distorting a bit. It turns into a series of rings similar to the Target store logo. The texture also uncenters itself and moves towards the bottom right. Any ideas on how to fix this?
@AzharAzman933 жыл бұрын
maybe you should change texture coordinate from generated to object
@EverBread13 жыл бұрын
@@AzharAzman93 I’ve tried that but you can’t really do much until it distorts more. I got it to center a bit better but the same ring pattern is still there.

Nice. I love the procedural geometry techniques, but understanding what nodes and functions create what effect is like voodoo.

Yeah, it takes a while to get the hang of. I figured out the spiral pretty recently. To learn, I do a lot of experimenting, watch other tutorials, and look at the documentation. It becomes really fun once you get it.

Nice tutorial, well explained! Can this be done on a circular plane as well? I dropped the node string on a circular plane and it works! How can I add a bump node to this, to make it 3D?

great tut bro. I wanted to know if there's any way of blending the seem between black and white, I tried overlays, color ramp and other spheres :(
@JoeyCarlino4 жыл бұрын
Yes, at 1:28 don't set the color ramp to constant and the result will be smoother. You can add more flags to get different results.

@@JoeyCarlino thanks, saved my life, I was so tired I almost forgot I can add more flags, it was like 6:00 am and honestly I was about to erase everything

Nice tutorial, are you able to mentally visualize what the nodes are gonna do or is there another way you arrive at good results like this?
@JoeyCarlino3 жыл бұрын
A lot of what I learned is through trial and error. Some node setups I've done enough times to be able to visualize what they will do, but I'm always experimenting.

Thanks for the great tutorial. Couldn't believe that there was such a great answer to a question I googled 🙂 I'm getting a great colour map as a result, but I can't work out how to plug this result into a 'displace modifier'? It looks like the displace will only work with textures???
@DaveTimperley4 ай бұрын
I tried to plug the bsdf into the displacement plug on the mat output, but everything just went pink ha ha so yep, I have no idea what I'm doing 🙂
@DaveTimperley4 ай бұрын
I found a vid that describes the 'displacement' node, but it looks like it takes a 'vector' input. is there a way to covert the colour info in your recipe, to a vector format that the displacement node will accept?

If spiral on sphere is not smooth then use normal coordinates it will fix it.
@maxxxmodelz40614 жыл бұрын
I don't like using Object as the mapping coordinate. While it does keep the texture sized properly regardless of scale, it moves around the object when animated. That's something that is really a pain for motion graphics or animators who will then need to restructure the node in either Generated or UV coordinate system. I think using a mapping node negates any real benefit of using Object mode, because all you need to do is change the scale in the mapping node when using generated if necessary. Much easier than having to mess about with a bunch of different settings when you need the texture to stick to the object.
@JoeyCarlino4 жыл бұрын
It depends what you're making. If you plan on animating a deforming mesh, I agree that object coordinates are not the way to go.

You probably have to bake it into an image. I don't know anything about unity right now.
