Windy -- Long term I've found the best thing is the farm type green, flat stamped fence posts. Just hammer them into the ground to the flat blade in the strongest wind direction, and then put a pool noodle over them that way they're a little safer for you or any kid etc who runs into it. Then just put your stuff over or in front of it, and secure. We get too much 45 mph wind here at the coast for anything else to work long term. This works great even for blow ups by having the foam pool noodle on the posts. Instead of guy wires running everywhere that still don't hold it down, I put a post or two behind it and use amsteel rope from the side ties back to the posts. Paint the foam for the posts a neutral background color and they're not that noticeable, and you can usually have them close enough to the body that they aren't that visible anyway. I have to do all my deer, sleighs, blow ups, and other Christmas decorations this way. Just normal stakes won't cut it here things still blow over when the ground gets wet and softens. Easy to remove too, just push against the flat way back and forth a few times. That spreads the ground a little and they'll pull up fairly easily in most cases. Use gloves, the posts have a lot of little ways to grab or cut your hands.

A tip for cooling the foam after shaping it with the heat gun: get a can of air (from office supply stores for cleaning keyboards, electronics, etc) turn the can upside down and spray the foam. The propellant gets very cold and cools the foam instantly. Works great when working with hot glue too.

That's actually genius advice that is so simple to overlook. I used to read books on how to make haunted houses when I was a kid lol. SFX and how to do illusions in haunted houses like making a rocking chair rock on it's on just by using an osilating fan that also blows the curtains around lol. I loved all of that stuff. too thin to support itself and the arms over that span, it could with internal bracing but with the same build that foam would crumble. You can actually see a roll of the Tractor supply foam on a shelf behind me in the video lol. .276 seems close to .375 or 3/8" but its a big enough difference. also the butt joint and the strip between the two actually add to the strength. WOW, So very cool, I love them. I'm making my 7 yr old Grandson a larger size treehouse I don't think the material you used would be good for his treehouse. I guess I will use a real tree BC the house is going to be larger than most cardboard houses you see here in youtube land. I mean so he can stand up and play with it you know. I have to make a removable roof also. Thank you for your videos. I hope you feel better fast.

This is just perfect! I needed spooky trees to fill out our headless horseman scene this year for Halloween and all the inflatables are too 'cute'. Love the break down aspect and all the clever tricks with different materials. Thanks!

This was great! I needed to make tree roots to add to a mural and didn't think about pre-making on plastic. Also, I didnt know that Gorilla glue puffed up!

Love all the prop videos I've seen so far. Our house is cab over bi level on a corner lot off one of the main roads of our development. I love the idea of going all out for halloween 🎃. One of the biggest difficulties I face is we get constantly trampled by 30-50mph winds

I love these trees! So much easier to make than using a cement tube thing..whatever they are called... cuz I have seen that too and they are so much more time consuming to make.
