I recognize this axe. I have plenty of them. This axe is a carpenter's A2 size of the Izhstal plant

Please make more videos, you're my favourite dood from Alone. I'd love to see some fire inside a shelter and how you deal with smoke problems.

Great tip! And It’s almost as if you’ve seen a Gransfors Br(ea)uk handle fail on a first swing or something…..🤪

Haha still haven't forgiven them ;). Actually, there was that, and then last year at elk camp a guy also had a brand new one that the head flew off of!

No matter how good an axe brand is it can never be perfect that’s why I absolutely hate when people fully ridicule the company for their one bad axe and then boom customers gone haha I can understand people mentioning it in a video but when they make a whole video about how you shouldn’t buy this or that it bothers me so much 😂

Could you elaborate a little more on the chisel ground axes from the evenki people? Also what’s the science behind the squarish handle that are better for working with mittens? Regards max

Great tip man. The Alone show has really inspired me. I may have to try some bushcraft stuff eventually. Office work is not rewarding

Jordan, you should check out the Stihl "Woodcutter Universal Forestry Axe". They sell for $40 at North 40, and they are very much like the Russian style axes with the wide eye and even a squarish handle up top. I have one and it seems to have decent steel, and all the ones on the rack at North 40 seemed to have decent steel as well as decent fit an finish.

I like those Russian axes too. I bought a few on eBay although they were bigger versions then I what you are probably used to. By the way what type of steel are they made out of.

I'm hoping to get one made! I haven't found one I like as much as the Russian ones, but they are hard to source in the US, and you can get them with varying quality steel

If you go on my website and sign up for my list I'll let you know when I get them produced, hopefully sooner rather than later 🙏
