In this video I describe how you can recycle a washing machine that is beyond its useful life to get a shiny drum to make a firepit.
You will need some tools for this job, (see below) but if the washing machine is going to be scrapped you don't need to use too delicate a hand to emancipate the drum!

Cheers brother. I stripped it down to the drum inside the plastic casing and wasn't sure of the best way to proceed, I think I'll bring it in the workshop and angle grind it all the way round.

I did this last night to our old washing machine that i bought mum well over ten year's ago the washing machine still worked but it would come up with an error etc sometimes, My brother got mum another washing machine from someone it was only about two year's old & he installed it yesterday while i was out with our dog's down the park, The plastic around the drum on our old washing machine was a lot heavier & thicker then the one in this video, I now have the washing machine drum in the garden ready to be used as an incinerator i just need to support it on some bricks.

Awesome unique "Creative" "Recycling" rarely seen nowadays! Outstanding intricate creative thought put into reality. I've thought of different possible uses of expired Washing Machine Stainless Steel Tubs as well. I came up with the following thoughts; Various uses such as perfect for an "Apocalypse " Hand crank Washing Machine tub. For Clothing, Food for the gardener or farmer as as a Big "Colander" or make a crank washing machine tub to hold and strain clean food. Like Fruits& Vegetables , potatoes carrots. Or for even Game animals Sea Food etc. For Ammunition Reloaders of Metallic Cartridges to clean the used fired Metallic Cartridges. ( Note once used for cleaning metallic cartridges which fired Lead Bullets such it should not be anymore used for cleaning food clothing etc). Or for the Winemaker as a Grape Press to make Wine. For pet owners a safety holding vessel for your unique pets to keep them safe and under watchful eye. Or for the Sportsperson / Survivalist for use as a Holding area for Aquafood or make an Eel, Crab/ Crustacean Trap. Or as a Cooker Hot Smoker combo. Way to go! Keep up the awesome ingenutive creative recycling. Safe Journeys.

Actually these make some really nice firepits since they have very good ventilation. Last one burned to death, don't use a blower beneath it, the coal can get so hot that they melt through for some reason. Didn't expect that to happen! :D

hello boots Owen subbed u.i like smashing washing machines to bits.i also strip them down for the copper/brass /circuit board/cast alloy. I took the spider of the drum thew days ago .now the shaft what's in the centre of the spider is pressed in .I hadn't took the drum out of a washing machine for a couple of years .got the grinder on the shaft.i was going to make a fire pit but I cut in to the drum .I got more .cool idea though. I'll watch your other videos. I have a channel but I've only just started out .great video thumbs up
@bootsowen
@bootsowen 3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes my scrap yard gives me cast ally for the spider with the steel in and sometimes irony. I cut one out with a hacsaw once but it is too much hassle. It is a hassle to get the drum out but if a mate wants one then I do it. People think theyre stainless but they're magnetic so the scarp yard only gives light iron on them. I reckon copper, cables, brass and big batteries are the best for scrap value but somehow in this washing machine destruction video business I wind up with a few really dead washers. Washing machines are a funny one to bring to the scrap yard, because most of the weight is concrete counterweights, but they don't seem to care!
@nightscrapperuk13
@nightscrapperuk13 3 жыл бұрын
I took one in before the first lock down in filled the drum with shred.the guy in the scrap yard said that's the heaviest washing machine we have had .yeah the concrete counter weights give most of the weight to a washing machine. I have some fun when I take them apart my cat jumps in the drum of the washer while am taking the top wiring out 👍

I'm getting some stick on Fece bokk for asking for £15 as a Firepit. I claimed it too me an hour, but they're saying it should only take 10 minutes. Even a lady with NO TOOls or Skills (according to her) managed to do this in less than half an hour. How the feck she took all the bolts out with no tools? I'm a trades man of many years as a Carpenter. I know my way around most things mechanical too. These idiots fail to think in terms of Time vs Cost as a self Employed Person. I had to pick it up in the first place, dismantle it and my drum was heat fused inside the plastic casing. It has no release catches. Tt had to be cut out. When it was free, all the junk needed to be taken to the tip. I'm fecking robbing myself asking £15 for it. I won't be doing it again. :D How long do you reckon this entire job took you including getting rid? I easily spent an hour just dismanlting it and putting the rubbish in the van.

You have to laugh it off. I don’t sell on fence box but I have used GTree in the past and love the deep cut haggling tactics of some. I get about 20 for them but I haven’t sold one in a while. Whether it’s worth it or not is up to you. I have a self employed neighbour who has made the time cost argument to me about stuff before. There’s two other things to it. One is enjoyment. If you take pleasure from taking stuff apart you are on to a winner. And pleasure from going one step further in the recycling of stuff. The other is sustainability. Whether you enjoy it or not it is good to get a bit more reuse out of something. And just occasionally you get to meet someone interesting
